Fun shots, Peter.
I especially like the Christmas orb and how many important details are preserved.
The overhead beach scene is cool too especially with the profile of the face in the rock being so prominent.
The painter's wife was a good find and superbly composed.
The couple overlooking the water is a fun shot as well, I hope those pirates were the friendly type.
Excellent work, Peter.

The first two images are fun. Well done.
The next two are pretty amazing....I quickly read the article. Amazing what can be done now.....however I feel like I have been left behind in technology....I'm a dinosaur. But I can appreciate what others can and will do with it. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool and dramatic creations, Peter. I love the two creative plane photos.

I am torn by the AI manipulations, though, and feel that they may make or break me for my love of Photography.

Using the editing software to tweak photographs is one thing. I strongly felt that it was an acceptable practice to boost colors, sharpen focus points, etc., darkroom adjustments. But AI is more like painting a photo, you add elements that were never in the original composition by filling a text box with a word or phrase.

We sure have moved quickly from the arrival of SKY replacements to the creations I see on the pages of FLICKR now. It is like looking at computer-generated movies.

I got on the wrong images and had to delete my comments.

First two are very creatuve. Like them.

I am in the same boat as Natalie and Lorell on AI. I doubt I would ever use it though. Years ago in my teaching carrer I taught an Adult Ed night class in Photoshop. I ended every class with this statement. " You have learned how to manipulate photos, My hope is you use your new found knowledge for goos and not evil!" The same goe for AI. I saw an early AI video of a former President saying things he would never say. You could tell it was fake but I am afriad the newer version would be perfected by now. OK off my soapbox!

Airplane photos are awesome!

Good looking newsletter. You put a lot of work into it!

Thanks for the kind comments folks.

As far as AI goes, when I first heard about it, I thought I will never use this! Then I read some of what Gary Friedman had to say, and looked at his lecture to the RPS on cellphones, and realized that most of us are already using AI whether we like it or not. It's built into late model cameras, and more so into cellphones. And what is already in today's cellphone, will appear in tomorrow's camera.

I am currently convinced that, the next time I get a tricky masking job, I'll at least attempt to look at AI for assistance. And, given the amazing job it did at enhancing skies, the next time I replace a sky with one of my collection of sky images, I may well use AI editing assistance to see what that looks like.

For further interest on the subject, here is a copy of part of my January 2024 camera club newsletter.
