Food
Too many electric appliances.

Here is a simple lentil ham bone and chicken broth soup with veggies.

Thanks, Natalie for sharing the recipe. I was just surprised to see how bubbly the dough appeared. I was looking at recipes the other day and I saw several schnitzel recipes where you used shredded boiled potatoes to make the dough. Oh, I bet that tastes good.

Grant, That looks sort of like the cabbage soup I just finished eating for lunch today. It looks so healthy and scrumptious.

My breakfast is often leftovers from the previous day reheated. But yesterday I felt like cooking something, so looked to see what I had on hand. I grabbed a can of low-sodium refried beans and a can of diced tomatoes. I spread the refried beans in a medium skillet, added the diced tomatoes on top, covered the skillet, and cooked as low as I could so the beans wouldn't burn.

I don't remember what spices I added - either cayenne powder of hot pepper flakes. When this bean and tomato layer looked about ready I made three depressions in it and cracked en egg into each one. Covered and let cook (still on very low) until the eggs looked done.

I put a small tortilla on a plate, topped that with one of the eggs, and spread the bean and tomato combination around and on top. Not shown in the photo below is some Mexican Crema (basically pour-able sour cream) that I added. Pretty tasty and relatively healthy.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Soup looks good, Grant.I love soup this time of year. Last week I made a pot of beef barley soup. Forgot to take a photo of it, but it was so good with rye bread!!
Dave, that does look very good. You usually season everything up! I have a healed ulcer in my esophagus, so I usually go easy on the spices!! But I can imagine how good your stuff is!!

Culinary successes and excellent photos of them. Nice work both in the kitchen and behind the camera, Grant and Natalie.
