Thanks for the comments, Peter and Lorell. Appreciated.
Lorell – Every year there are one or two national photographic congresses, held by the PSSA (Photographic Society of South Africa) and/or The Cape Photographers. This year the latter group held a congress in the village of Carlitzdorp, which we (the wife and I) attended. Usually, a lecture is given by Willem Oets – the guy with the cat’s whiskers in the centre. The lady on the left is Christell, who lives in our area, and was a member of our camera club at one stage. This year they decided to add an additional photographic attraction, and set up a stage performance for us to shoot. Each of the five sessions were supposed to have a maximum of ten photographers, but it got a bit out of hand with the others barging in. I used only the stage lighting provided (no flash).
For the B&W conversion I virtually always use Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (the free version that Google gave away before selling Nik to DXO). Although I often combine a couple of presets, here I only used one.
At our regular club meeting next week, I will be entering coloured versions of some of these images. I will post those here in about one week’s time.
I must say that, of these, I had the most fun editing the Kronberg image, and turning a shot taken at midday into a night shot! (as described in the previously attached pdf file).
Regards – Pete
