Made it back from my trip to the Black Hills before the BIG storm tonight (Friday) and the weekend. Snow and ice, lovely! 43 degrees now.
Eye appointment went well. I have 20/20 in the eye in question with some membrane still hanging on to the macula. No surgery recommended (whew). Still to use eyedrops for a while.
Dave, That is a colorful hummer! Good one! They don't sit still long!
Thanks for the comment! Maybe you are thinking of the Battle of the Coral Sea which the ship was named after.
Don, I don't know which I like better, the bike or the covered bridge. Nicely composed shot, good looking bike!
Lorell, you nailed it! Looks real vintage. Topaz I assume. I am going to try that on some of mine. Tilt is great as many vintage photos had a tilt.
Natalie, thanks!
Peter, the butterfly really stands out from the BG. Very 3D!
Thanks Lorell,
The Midway is actually a sister ship of the Coral Sea. There were three ships in the Midway class. The Midway CVB-41, The Franklin D. Roosevelt CVB-42 and the Coral Sea CVB-43, which I was on. I am glad he talked about the ship. Would be fun for me to talk with him too! My are of work was the fo'c'sle, where the anchor and chain are, and the quarterdeck when in port. At sea I stood watch on the bridge. I was a certified helmsman which means I steered the ship.

He was an electrician and served on the Midway Aircraft Carrier. Although he was able to go up and deck, all of his work was done in the hangers in the belly of the ship. It sure was interesting talking to him. What aircraft carrier were you on, Rich? That is a great photo of you, Rich. I salute you.
