RE: Food - Man From Ironbark - 07-13-2022 These are the last of my aubergines. RE: Food - Dreamin - 07-13-2022 Oooops.......I must have missed this one when picking cukes....it hid well..... RE: Food - Quint - 07-13-2022 Beautiful eggplants and a long well hidden cuke. I seldom can go through my raised bed of cukes and get them all. I make the mistake of turning back to look and see one waving at me as plain as day. My pole string beans are starting to put climbers up and the bush ones are showing signs of blossoms. This tomato should be the first to ripen. RE: Food - Adamphotoman - 07-14-2022 Asian Singapore noodle with Colossal Shrimp & lobster tail Shar Sui Ham and extra Onion Garlic Green Bell Pepper and diced carrot RE: Food - Dreamin - 07-19-2022 Peter, Those are beautiful eggplant. I have never learned to like them, unfortunately.....how do you cook/eat them? Quint, I have only picked a couple of tomatoes so far....I have lots of plant, few tomatoes, unfortunately....yours is a nice one...I see a BLT on toast on my plate!!! Grant, oh, my. You do cook the most tempting food. You missed your calling, should have opened your own restaurant!! I am not so creative. But I do have zucchini!! At least until the squash bugs get them....so another zucchini bread....this time, it's lemon poppyseed zucchini bread. Yum! RE: Food - Quint - 07-19-2022 Grant, that's great looking noodle dish. We just had something similar but without the lobster. Natalie, I want some of that zucchini bread with my morning coffee. Peter, I love eggplant and it's such a beautiful plant. I'll try growing some next season. Here's a recent shot I took today of some of my tomato plants. Good fruit getting larger and setting more. Tons of blossoms. RE: Food - Adamphotoman - 07-21-2022 Natali, Your zucchini photo is creative and masterful RE: Food - Adamphotoman - 07-24-2022 Breakfast; A layered omelette; the bottom is Basmati rice infused with Cumin and Saffron. Then there is Wilted Spinach, over Eggs mixed with fried Garlic Onion and Green Pepper finally Mozarella cheese and vine ripened Tomatos. RE: Food - Quint - 07-25-2022 Great looking egg and tomato dish, Grant. I'm lacking a picture but this recipe is a favorite I've made many times. No tomatoes in this but it's certainly not lacking in flavor and visual delight. Red Pepper Pasta - 2 large red bell peppers - 1 pound penne pasta - 1 can anchovy filets - 1 bunch fresh Italian parsley - ½ cup olive oil - ½ cup ground Parmesan or Romano cheese - 4 to 5 cloves garlic - ½ teaspoon black pepper Dice both peppers into approximately ¼ inch pieces. Mince garlic. Add olive oil to large skillet and cook over medium heat. Add garlic and peppers and sauté until they start to turn soft. Add the anchovy oil from the can and then the anchovies after cutting into small pieces. Add the black pepper and then cut the fresh parsley leaves (about ¼ cup) and add to the pan. Mix and simmer all together until peppers are soft. Have a large pot of water boiling and cook the pasta so it will be done about the same time the pepper mix is ready. When pasta is done, drain and place half of the pasta to a large serving dish. Sprinkle well with half the cheese and spoon half of the pepper mix including the oil over the top of the pasta. Add some fresh parsley leaves. Add the rest of the pasta and repeat with the cheese, pepper mix and parsley. Serve with good bread and wine for a delicious, fragrant and colorful treat. RE: Food - Don - 08-04-2022 Tried the Red Pepper Pasta, mighty tasty. I think I used the wrong anchovies though - mine were packed in water and it really needed them to be packed in oil. Still, I enjoyed. |
