Hello friends.

Natalie, the portraits of your nephew are top-notch perfect.  I can see why they were so pleased.  If you wanted to subsidize your retirement, you could easily get a job as a portrait photographer.  All these shots in yesterday's thread and of your nephew in the challenge thread are fun and natural looking.  Much better than the studio shots.

Also, your comments Natalie about dining on crabs reminded me of this photo that I took last month of a soft shell crab sandwich.  Yum.

Grant, sounds like you like soft shell crabs too!  When this meal was delivered to my table, the people who I was sitting with asked me how was I going to eat it.  They were surprised that you eat the shell and all.

Have a good one all,
LORELL

PS.  I got to add that the cell phone really comes in handy when doing overhead shots like this one.  Before when I wanted to do this at a restaurant, people looked at me strangely when I pulled out my DSLR camera, pulled out the chair and stood on it, and bent over the meal to grab the shot....JUST KIDDING, but being only 5'1" tall, it is tough to get a good overhead shot.

Lorell, 50 years ago I lived in Bethesda and went to school in Baltimore. I know the soft shell crab. But then I also know Alaskan KIng Crab and in Cowichan Bay we had plenty of Dungeness Crab as well as fresh Salmon.

Yesterday I grilled Greek Pork Ribs and my Bacon wrapped Scallops. I do those quite different. The 1 1/2 inch scallops  are wrapped in a thin stretchy bacon. 2 side by side and completely encased. No scallop bits showing. A number of round toothpicks hold it all together then grilled in a stainless Barbie deep pan. Sorry no pics.

All this talk about food and that great photo has me hungry. So today I'll make a big batch of either: a) spaghetti with homemade meat sauce using small bits of Jimmy Dean hot breakfast sausage, and spiced with a little of this and that including a small pinch of toasted and ground hot Thai pepper; or b) a big pot of chili with two varieties of beans, the Jimmy Dean hot sausage, corn & carrots, celery, maybe some scallions, and of course various spices including the Thai pepper.

Other than that, I'll be taking it easy today after a couple of days of overdoing the weeding.

I did take my usual morning walk, and it looks like someone is trying to save Ron's roses; they've been pruned (much needed, but not done as well as Ron used to), the area weeded, and I suspect watered and maybe even fed some fertilizer. Here's one photo from this morning of the Ketchup & Mustard roses...

Have yourselves a safe, healthy, and productive day.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, that is a beautiful rose....The color is amazing! Yes, all the food talk, especially seafood! I am getting hungry!! That softcrab looks very good!

Thanks, Lorell. I'm posting my grand-niece's portaits, today, taken several years ago for her graduation. I posted her brother yesterday. Both are great young adults. As I said, I let them choose their backdrops/props. She loves to hunt to provide venison for the family.

Lorell, I have never had a softshell crab but it looks delish! I didn't know you ate the shell too. From what I have heard they are only available certian times of the year.

Lovey photo! Yes, if you stood on a chair to get the shot, that would be entertaining to other diners!

Dave, a lovely photo. Maybe they have seen you taking photos and decided to spruce things up a bit. Print a snall 5 x 7 accent piece of this one and give it to them!

Natalie, you have the portrait photographers touch! Awesome photos! Remember them from WC but we don't have the WC rules here so fun to see again!

I actually found these photos from a trip to the Fall Colors in 2007. Lincoln's assassination chair and Edison's last breath from the Henry Ford museum. Lorell can do better on the chair when she goes.
