Good morning Grant and any who follow. Fiery sunset indeed.

I've been doing final preps this morning, loading bags of cameras into the truck and additional items into the camper. I am about to go out now and hook up the trailer to the truck. Hoping to get underway by 0900 since it is over a 4 hour drive but if we get on the road by 1000 that will be OK too. Don't want to leave any later than that. Have a Clive Cussler book on CD to listen to which will help pass the time. Ooops, first I need to load the bicycles before I hook up, so I'll get on that. Might be able to check in this week, but if not I'll "see" y'all later.

Wow, you are up early, Grant.
You sure have some dramatic skies as demonstrated by the intense colors in this one. Thanks for starting our daily.

Looking forward to sun and blue skies here today after two chilly overcast days, shall return with a pic after I get on my computer. Wish I knew a way to resize photo on my iPad, then I could post from here photos that I took with it or my phone. Maybe there is an app I could upload.

Any suggestions, iPhone owners?

Thanks for starting the Daily, Grant. Beautiful colors in your sunset photo.

Safe travel, Don. Looking forward to seeing what photos to return with.

Hi Lorell. Sorry that I have no suggestions about resizing on the phone.

On a walk 4 days ago some strong colors caught my eye, so I took a few shots. Then I pushed the colors even further (probably too far - subtlety has never been one of my strengths)...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Have a fun and safe trip, Don.

Dave, I think the colors are not over-saturated.  They look good to me and I like how they glow.

Just put a load of wash in as we get ready from some friends who will be visiting us for a week starting tomorrow.  I hope the weather cooperates but it appears that even Florida is going to be subject to cooler temps like the rest of the country.

Here is one that I grabbed the other day outside of our rental place.  When I saw the dark shade in the background, I knew that I had to get my camera.

Hope that you are all enjoying your day.
LORELL

Hi Everyone..I am trying to keep up (and not doing a good job of it)
Just seems like I have a lot of irons in the fire lately.
Grant: that is some intense sky color and I like the diffuse edges.
Don: Drive safe and have a great time! Bring back some winners! (we know you will!)
Dave: Wow! nice composition and no, you did not over push the color--at all.
Very pretty.
Lorell: Look how the light just lands on the face of the hibiscus! Lovely!!!
Sheesh...now I'm going to post Brick in B&W...apologies for killing the color trend here today.
It's a terrible job, but someone has to do it, right?

We went here yesterday and have photographed this before, but it was my only op for the day.
Light was not good either. Overcast and mid afternoon.
Looks awful in my Opera Browser.

Today I gathered up and took inventory of all my canning jars.
WHERE did all my 1 quarts go? One left!
Supplies are limited right now, but I found some at TSC.
(and not at inflated, short supply costs either)
I am hoping to do some canning in the near future.
It's been awhile and I can take advantage of sales.

Hi Lorell. Sorry your Florida trip won't escape cool temps. But at least it'll be warmer than at home. Beautiful shot of the hibiscus.

Hey damar. Good to see you. I sorta figured that you had a lot of things going on. And no need to apologize for your B&W photo; one of the things I enjoy about the Daily is the variety of images. Yours is another fine capture of Americana - some days are gray but your photo looks pretty good to me..

Speaking of having a lot going on, I decided to give watercolors another try. I dug up my supplies and was surprised that after lying untouched for at least 10 years, most of the tubes of paint appear to be OK to use - not dried rock-hard as I expected. My brushes are another matter so I'll order a few new ones today, and I'll add a few tubes of paint to round out the palette I plan to use. I also got a couple of sketchpads and various drawing pencils: 4B and 6B chisel edge (also called carpenter's pencils), several "regular" drawing ones, and a couple of conte drawing pencils. I found my bottles of ink and several pens with switchable nibs, and one bottle of masking fluid that is (remarkably) still liquid after all these years. Now I want to find the carton where I stored my pastels - most are hard pastels, but I have small set of oil pastels somewhere too.

I'm hoping that the lessons I've learned about photography will translate into drawing and painting improvement.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks!
Good going Dave! Glad to hear you are going to dabble a bit! Even if you do find dried up water color paints, they are still good! Just cut the tube open and put dried paint in a small jar. Break off what you need, add a few drops of water and you’re good to go.
Just paint for your own pleasure and take any pressure off by not feeling every piece has to be a contender for a gallery!
I find that very liberating.
Embrace the wonky, the sketchy, the scribbly and have fun!
And be kind to yourself during your warm up sketches.
Turn off the negative voice, because anyone who does art every day or several times a week WILL improve!
Smile and tbumbs up!

Thanks for the encouragement, damar.

you wrote "Embrace the wonky, the sketchy, the scribbly and have fun!" That's the quirkiest and best advice I've ever seen.
