Good day, folks.

Yesterday I had a bit of light gardening to do. With my back acting up, I slowly and gingerly set about removing a succulent that had spread out, was covering part of the sidewalk, and seemed an irresistible spot for dogs to pee.

The slightly woody trunk was about 3-1/2 inches (about 9 cm) in diameter, but not too hard to saw thru. I planned to discard the large section I removed, so I tossed it next to the green bin. It turned out that the underside provided a subject worth a snap or two: surprisingly varied and strong colors, nice lines and shapes, a good mix of values in the lit and shadowed areas. Here's one image...

Many succulents are known to thrive and grow into a full plant if you simply push a small cutting down into the soil. So I decided to replant the biggest part elsewhere in the yard, which now gets lots of sunlight following the extreme trimming of our jacaranda. Seems worth trying.

Stay safe and happy, everyone.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi Dave,
Wow 15 looks and no replies. Well Well Well....
We have snow . You have no snow.
We are white. You have Green.
So different. It feels like  -38°C here. Remember -40°C is -40°F
You have a back that acts up. I have neck pain.

So from my archives nearly 10 years ago. Alaska Icy Straits.

Hello gentlemen -

Nice texture and colors in that photo Dave. Good eye to notice. Glad to hear your back is getting better, but just don't over do it. I've been sore the past few days from trying to do too much around the house. Sure takes longer to recover these days.

Grant, we would love to take another Alaska trip but I don't think it will be in the cards anytime soon, if ever. We saw some whales at a distance but nothing like that photo.

I think I'm going to pop over and start the daily for today. Hopefully there will be more activity than yesterday (Thursday).

What a fine photo, Grant. I love the sky, great depth, composition solid - and 6 or 7 whales!

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
