We had a beautiful day yesterday; clear and once the sun overcame the night's low temps it got into the 70s (21+ C). I took my usual early walk and enjoyed hearing the birds celebrate the new day in song.

For no reason I can figure, after I returned home I started getting pain in my right foot. It increased through the day and by mid-afternoon my big toe and the ball of my foot were really hurting. I can't put any pressure on my toe, meaning that when I try for my usual morning walk in an hour or so I won't be able to push off the toe at all. So what is usually a 25 minute walk will probably take closer to an hour later today.

Being somewhat hobbled yesterday, I didn't leave my yard. But the strong light complemented the flowers, and I got 4 or 5 photos that pleased me. Here is one...

it is a strong composition and I like to position of the fly looking out from the corner of the image in addition to the iridescence that you caught in the little creature. Geez, I wonder what is going on with your foot.  Soak it in Epson Salt.  I can't wait to hear the other medical suggestions from others.

Here is one I took yesterday morning.  The oranges are so juicy and sweet.  Nothing like that at home. They are HONEYBELLS.
Have a great day all.

Probably isn't this as the pain is mostly in the heel.

Those honeybells look delicious.
Wonder if the budwood will ever make it to the land of Oz?

Dave's fly looks like the bluebottle fly.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.

Dave, Have  your doc check for GOUT.
I take a med for it called Alo-purinol.
It stops Uric Acid being formed in the Toe and other joints. Works great.

Lorell, I find your oranges and apples to be a tad saturated. I adjusted them in Selective Colour.

My mom had gout and she said that it felt like she was stepping iron crushed glass.

Grant, yes,  oranges were a little too orange. Thanks.

Thanks, Lorell.

I like your oranges photo. If the colors are more intense than realistic, I'm fine with that. It makes for a striking image, maybe one that fits your interpretation of the scene better than a purely "accurate" one would.

MFI, I thought Blue Bottle Fly as soon as I saw it. And a little quick research suggests that's exactly what it is. I find its colors beautiful; just wish it was facing the camera.

Grant, my comments above aren't meant to denigrate your subtly adjusted image. Both Lorell's and your versions are excellent. And I, for one, appreciation your willingness to analyze our photos and take the time to show how you would adjust them.

About my foot pain:

My first walk was a bit of an ordeal - couldn't put any pressure on the big toe. But as the yesterday progressed, it started feeling a bit better. The ache appears to have moved more towards the ball of my foot and fortunately isn't as intense as it was at first. We'll see what today brings. I appreciate the responses about what might be wrong. I too thought of gout, and at my next routine check-in with my doctor I'll ask her what she thinks.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
