September Challenge - Selective colouring. Part Colour part B&W
#61
Grant, that's an nice idea and I'll bet it would produce some interesting contrasts. I'm not sure if you envision it as two different photos; one of something old and the other of something similar but new, or if you're thinking of a single photo that includes both something new and old.

But I think you are right in wondering if Old vs New would limit the number of responses.

So I'm thinking this: if "Something Old" sounds good for the October Challenge, we could make November's "Old vs New" as you suggested. If we do that it would be a good idea to say that any images posted in the proposed "Something Old" Challenge could be used as half of an "Old vs New" Challenge for November. Of course, this assumes that what you had in mind was two photos - one of something old and one of something new.

Maybe we should wait and see if others respond indicating what they think.

Sound reasonable to you?

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Don't overthink it. One photo or a pair, either should be acceptable. But then, my wife thinks my ideas are weird.

I'm not trying to be picky, just helpful.....I wish I had an idea to suggest.....

Not sure how many photos I would be able to find or take for the suggestions.....may have already used most of mine for previous challenges:

Just a reminder......July was something new, June was something older, March was old rusty autos......

Natalie, you weren't being picky, you were indeed helpful. Thank you.

I should have checked the topics of previous challenges and I didn't - my bad.

Hopefully someone else will come up with a topic for October that is different and will be one that everyone can easily find subjects for.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

How about simply photos depicting the change of season.

That might coincide nicely with outdoor Halloween decorations!

how about pick a single object, ball, toy car, utensil, whatever, and that has to be featured in every shot?

Michael, It looks like you couldn't sleep last night because you were busy trying to figure out the topic for the next challenge.
I am not sure I understand what you mean.

So, one would pick out a certain toy, like a doll, and then for the rest of the month think of different ways, settings, composition, etc., the take the photo of the doll.  Is that correct?  I kind of like that idea and would be willing to go with it.  It already has my mind working.  Let's see what the others think about it. I think it could be quite creative.

Exactly. Sort of like this. I wouldn't use a bad one like this in the challenge, but, it gives an idea of what I meant.

Does it have to be the "featured" subject, or just "in" the photo...
