Good topic and two quite different but both nice images, Michael.

I'll jump in with (what else?) a floral...

I was intentionally striving for a high-contrast look in this conversion to B&W because that's what the low early morning light produced

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi Michael!
Your street shot is perfect for B&W!
I like the grainy night scene too. Is that new fallen snow?
It's cool that I can't tell!

Dave,
I have to say, I have seen both of your sunflower photos and as rich as the color is, the B&W worked out
really well.
I wish I had seen this sooner! But I do have a few more B&W shots from the museum that will need to be resized.

Great start Michael. Dave, I think of you as a colour man,  but I see you work B&W well too. Patty, Good subject for B&W. The texture on the old cash register suits.

I showed this in that other site but converted to B&W. Shot with a 6 megapixel Kodak 760 and a Nikkor 135 AF DC [Defocus Control] F:2 portrait lens at F 2.2 / 400 ISO / 1/20 handheld. Like the perfect storm it came together.

A second conversion

At University I made a film Using the music and lyrics from the Beatles  " A Day in the Life"
It was fun. A childhood friend is the main actor. I used some stills in B&W Here is the 1st one.

Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late

Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I showed this in Colour, however, another B&W conversion.
Thank you Patty, for the kind words. BTW the country store recreation works well in B&W All the old jars and tins on the shelves are cool.

Patty, The Bison ranch is about 18 kilometers between the small town of Wilkie [where we live 1300 population] and the slightly larger town of Unity [2500 population]. Both in Saskatchewan North of the Dakotas.
