Yesterday's thread was interesting.
I left a post in Friday's thread explaining how my brother got involved in raising bees.
It is such an interesting hobby and quite rewarding.

Here are some photos that my brother sent me a number of years ago.
He has two hives and gets loads of honey.

Here he is with his son (the tall one).

I regret that I haven't been an active poster in recent days. My camera has been acting up: auto-focus stopped working, and manual focus hasn't produced sharp photos either. Guess I need to have the camera looked at and repaired.

But I have been enjoying the photos and stories you all posted over the past few days.

Here's the best image I've been able to make recently...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Lorell, that's great that he's into bees!  The bee populations have been going down, and the more we can help the bees the better!  And the honey is just a sweet benefit!!Nice hive!!
Hi, Dave!  That rose is pretty sharp!! Lovely color!! I wish I could grow roses....I think I may buy one and try again!!
Here is a photo of the feeder where I put sugar water. It is located in the top of the hive. It is shaped almost like a bundt pan, and you fill it with sugar water. The bees come up from the hive in the center hole.....the center hole has a cover over it so they cannot fly out, but can get to the sugar water. I have to feed them because a new swarm in a hive has no honey to eat....they have not made any yet....so I will continue to feed them I was surprised .....they drank a quart in 3 days!!  This may get expensive.   I mix one cup of sugar to one cup of water!  Holy Cow!! They better start making honey!!

Expensive, yes! My brother feed his too and cannot get over how much they drink of the sugar/water solution he makes. So you now have another hobby to keep you busy.  Good thinhpg you are retired . My brother’s feeder looks like a BIG FLOWER. The bees go crazy over it. Probably more at this time of the year when they don’t have a lot of honey made. I am always surprised at the buzz/hum that surrounds the hive. My brother just stands near the hive with his phone and it is loud.

Dave, sorry to hear about your camera. I hope that it is not an expensive fix. Do you have someplace local that you can take it? Enjoyed the rise bud. It is going to look bright and beautiful when it opens. But your bud reminds us that all the stages of a rinse are beautiful, even when it starts to fade.

Lorell, this feeder is actually inside the hive, not visible.....but a big sugar flower sounds kind of nice!!  I watched the bees for a bit....they are very busy coming in the hive with yellow legs!!  They are working!!   Lots of buttercup in bloom right now!!

Thanks, Ladies.

Lorell, I'll take the camera to the local family-run store where I bought it. They may be able to fix the auto-focus, but the camera is overdue for a good cleaning and they'll probably send it out for that.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi Dave, Sorry to hear about your Auto focusing troubles. I suspect you already tried it with ALL your lenses.

Yes grant. Mostly, the auto focus/zoom functions in DSLR are related to the motors built in to each lens. As always were, the manual focus/zoom.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.
