Good afternoon all - so no one has started the daily so it might be a day of little participation. Busy weekend I guess.

Got back home yesterday, spent some time last night catching up with the weeks posts. Some very nice images from last week, well done to all. I started out with over 600 photos and by the time I got through deleting out of focus, dupes, etc I was left with 265. I have only processed about 40 of those and the remainder are "iffy" at best. Not really happy with what I got.

There was a guy in a boat casting a net and bringing up pretty good hauls. I got this just as the net had opened and hit the water. I thought it looked interesting. I have quite a few bird photos that I will share as time goes on, as well as a few other subjects.

Hi Don. Thanks for starting the Daily. That's a neat photo.

The low morning sun lit up this invader so nicely that I couldn't resist taking the shot...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Happy Saturday afternoon. Good day to do nothing, 36° outside and 30 MPH winds....so I have been filling solo cups with promix potting soil to start some seeds.
Don, great job catching the unfurling of the net. Wonder what kind of fish he was catching? We used to cast a net to catch our bait fish....never fished with a net, though.
Dave, nice greens and yellow, did you toss it into a salad?  They are very healthy! I find them bitter. Nice that you found that beam of light!
More dramatic crystals of ice, Grant....I haven't taken ice shots in years....may have to try that next winter. Hope it's over for now! (the cold weather, NOT your posting of frost!)
Another photo of my daughter's German Shepherd. I have a love/hate relationship with her hair. It's long and silky, BUT she loves mud puddles, goes and lays in them....and today it's pouring rain, puddles all over the place....it takes a while to towel her off!!  I apologize if I posted this before...I'm having trouble remembering....hope that's not a bad sign....

Hey all,
Sorry, I am just getting over a real bad cold and my head felt like it was going to blow!
Getting better now.

Grant, I am starting to see faces in your frosty glass images.  It is like looking up at clouds and finding elephants, dragons, etc.
I know as soon as those spring flowers start to bloom, you will be out there with your camera getting greens, pinks, and yellows to fill our screens.

Dave, the first dandelion of the season? Another nice spotlight illumination on that flower.
My mother use to pick the leaves and make herself salads.  Natalie is correct, they are bitter but my mom liked bitter-tasting stuff.  She really liked dark beer!  The darker the better.
The mother of a friend of ours use to use dandelion leaves to make dandelion wine!  Oh dear, that must have been awful.

Natalie, I cannot imagine all that wet fir coming into my house.  My boxer, Ella, loves coming in the house after a rainy day or snowy day and getting toweled off.  She thinks we are playing.  She loves the attention and being rubbed down.  But I got to say,  that is one of the sharpest-looking Shepards I have ever seen. Natalie, are you starting plants for yourself or for your daughter?

Don, thanks for starting the daily for us this Saturday.  The Fishman shot is really cool.  Your timing was spot on. He looks like he is in a bubble.  I know how it feels when you come home from a photoshoot and feel let down.  But you never know until you look at the photos closely and hopefully come upon that one priceless shot that you just got lucky to take.

So, here is a WHAT IZ IT, but does not belong in the WHAT IZ IT thread. I am just hoping someone can identify this "thing" that I came upon on the beach on Anna Maria Island.  It is a big transparent glob.  Is it a jellyfish of some kind?    I know that one of you has the answer.

Have a good rest of your day.
LORELL

Most mystery jellified blobs found on beaches tend to be the eggs of gastropods, but the lack of obvious specks in it and the mantel around it suggests to me that it is the remains of a jellyfish.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.

My late boxer hardly shed at all, and she, too, loved to be dried off. This sheperd does not like it...but she suffers it.....Thank you, she is pretty....this is our third shepherd, and each one had a different look. I'm starting some tomatoes, cukes and peppers for me..I have a small raised bed area I'm going to plant. I probably won't do the straw bale garden this year. Had trouble keeping it from drying out last year....I'm pretty sure that is a jellyfish, but what kind, I don't know....

Thanks Natalie and Peter.

Natalie, I remember the straw gardens and how they took off. You did get an abundance of produce. It has to be fun to start thinking about planning your garden so early in the year. With the projection of rising prices, I think more people may be planting a garden this spring.
