Greetings All!
Trying to keep up! Grant your vintage scans from yesterday were excellent!
I have been busy working on sewing projects since its a bit too cold to be outside.
I have some GAdgets and fabric coming today so I may be busy for the rest of the week.
I hope your New Year is off to a good start (all of you!)

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

It's good to see another of your fine photos, damar. You have been missed.

Ron's roses are deteriorating fast, but there a a few survivors. I shot these about an hour ago...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Greetings Patty, thanks for starting the daily.
Looks like a well built building. Quite a lot of artistic work fitting in all the rocks!

On my way to the Rec Center for my swim I noticed the sun dog coming out of our parking lot. Took another shot at the rec center. Sun dogs are formed as a ring around the sun from ice crystals in cold weather. When I took the photo it was 3 below zero with a 30 below wind chill. For Grant that is shorts and t-shirt weather but mighty cold for us! Info Sun Dogs

Dave, they will soon all be gone. Hope they take care of them for next spring.

Patty, nice to have another talent to fall back on when the mood strikes! You are multi-talented!

hello Patty, Dave and Rich,

Dave,
There is still a lot of life in those rose buds and bush, nothing that a little trimming wouldn't fix.  The yellow is so pretty and cheerful.  You are lucky to have such vibrant blooms still popping in December.

Patty, I bet putting those stones together is like doing a jigsaw puzzle. It is the kind of thing that would attract me as a challenge.  I could see myself really getting into it. On my screen, there appears an optical illusion.  There are some trees growing up the side of the building and because of their position and probably my poor eyesight, it appears that there is water coming out of the rusty old pipe! It took me a while to make out what I was looking at.  I do like seeing the blue skies through the doorway and window. Thanks for starting our daily for us.

Rich, your Sun Dog photo is a perfect example of the quote that you have posted. Maybe a sundog is not that common, but it does bring happiness when you see one.  Every time I see one, it reminds me of our belated, Sue (Mocassin).  She was the one who posted sundogs and explained them to me way back when in WC, God Rest Her Soul.  I don't mind bringing up her name.  She was a sweet gal and a wonderful caring, sharing member who is dearly missed.

Yesterday I got my Christmas present from my son.  It took this long to arrive after being ordered three weeks before Christmas.  i guess it came all the way from China.  I now have an Adjustable Neutral Density Filter that will fit one of my lenses for my Olympus Mirrorless camera.  I am excited that it is Variable and I don't have to switch from one filter to the next to get the right exposure, I just have to turn the dial after attaching the filter.  The dial also has a handy latch on it which makes it easier to turn.  I researched it and after reading very good reviews, I ordered it from K&F Concept.  It was the right price too.  It shall be going on vacation with me. Hoping to get some creamy water pier scenes and maybe some waves too on the beaches at AMI.

Here it is resting on top of its nice genuine leather case. I had some ND filters before but there were 4 different ones and it was too time consuming to keep switching from one filter to another in order to  increase or decrease the exposure.

Hi Rich. I like your sun dog shots. We don't get them here in coastal SoCal, of course, but I remember seeing them in my younger days in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Thanks, Lorell. Yes, we're fortunate to have flowers in December (and in January too). That looks like a top quality gift item, and I'm sure you'll enjoy using it. Well photographed too.

Nice ones, Grant. These days post-processing can help make great images; 40 years ago we lacked today's resources, but you still got a great image.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Lorell, Yes, I remember Sue fondly. She was a sparkplug for the forum!

That is a nice present. It was always a pain to switch out the filter plus the expense of buying them. Looking forward to the "cotton candy" moving water photos!

Grant, I bet you see more of the sundogs than we do. Maybe once a year. I like the 2 1/4 shot with the sun in the sweet spot! You are really getting some interesting frost photos. Is that on the inside or outside of the window?

I missed the reference to Sue.

Yes, she was an active, talented, and beloved member. I have no doubt that if she was still here, she would love our Foto Friends group, small though it may be.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
