Good morning all and welcome to the first Monday in the new year. Much cooler here this morning - yesterday at this time it was in the 70's and right now it is about 40F. Probably below freezing tonight but of course warming up later in the week. Maybe even warm enough for a motorcycle ride.

Here is a photo from our last camping trip. I'm sure I have posted photos of the white squirrels that we see in the state park but this is the latest one. Smile Actually a color variation of the common gray squirrel from what I can find out. Still interesting to see.

Don, so not a true albino, just a strong variation in color? I would think the very light color would be a survival disadvantage. But it sure is a neat photo.

Just trying to capture shapes and color with this one; I'll be impressed if anybody can guess what it is...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave,
I would say that it is the bottom part of a palm leaf, the part that breaks off of the tree, one of the lower palms.
It is a stunning photo and I love how the inside glows.

Don, Thanks for starting the daily and for the image of the white squirrel. He is so pretty.  If we had those colored squirrels right now, you wouldn't see them because of all of the snow we have.  I have a confession though,  I never made it out to take photos yesterday of the snowfall, instead, I drove over to my son's house to shovel his snow. He is recovering from another back operation!  This is the second in a little over a year.  Can't talk about it, it worries me too much.

The other day we were talking about how our kids don't recognize our Holywood stars, music artists, etc., and we don't recognize theirs.  Some of the musical artists listed in the playlist on this Wurlitzer Jukebox are:

Glenn Miller,
Ella Fitzgerald
Spike Jones and the City Slickers
Woody Herman & Orchestra
Firehouse Five Plus Two
Ink Spots

I got to admit, I only recognize the top two on this list.

Don, amazing! I have never seen a white squirrel, Doesn't a true albino have pink or red eyes?

Dave, nice whatizit. I'll buy into Peters guess. Interesting background!

Lorell, Love the photos. What a classic! I know all but one. In fact I sang with the Ink Spots once. Long Story, short debut.

A beautiful day here today. Snow is melting in the 35 degree warmth. Bottom drops out tomorrow again for a few days.

Hi All,
Dave, It is plant based but never no mind. I like it!
Lorell, As always, you never disappoint....
Don, The white squirrel would hide in our snow.
Hi Rich.

Here is an old photo I dug up. Before digital I made colour prints and glued them together.

Grant, that brings back a lot of memories. Yup, I did that too by flipping the negative over. What a hoot that was!

Several years ago I did it in photoshop with my portrait for a project on WC. Taking a straight on flat face photo. Flipping so you get two right side photos and two left side photos and putting them together. You will not believe the strange person that you see. On one of them I looked like an alien. Unfortunately no one else on WC dared to show their results. It was great fun for me!!

Nice photos, Lorell. Like you, I recognized just the first two musicians.

Hi MFI.

How's your weather today, Rich? Better than in recent days, I hope.

Grant, that is an amazing image!

My photo above is indeed from a palm (I assume Lorell is right about it being a leaf - and I am impressed); whenever it's windy I find them lying in yards or on streets & sidewalks. I lugged this big one (about 2.5 x 3 feet) home a while ago and left in in a dark corner of our inner yard. It just happened that where I dropped it gets a few rays of light for a couple of minutes in the late afternoon; in the photo the sun found some tears in the fibrous material and lit up the inner part of the concave leaf, causing the vivid orange.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

That is really cool, Grant. You were a creative thinker back then too.  It has a little Rorschach feel to it.

Dave, I see a lot of fallen palm when I take my walks in Florida.
