Happy Hump Day!

Here's a B&W of this morning's sunrise...

Things I like about this image:

1) The composition seems balanced without being static.
2) There is a nice range of values and good value contrast.
3) I think the various large shapes (some man-made and some natural) are pleasing.

What I don't like is how noisy the sky is (maybe not visible in this small version, but very obvious in full size).

I'll work on the color version later today or tomorrow

You folks all have yourselves a nice day or evening.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Greetings Dave!
Well done, a great "Shot in the Dark!" I at first thought there should be more detail in the shadows, but with further thought, really not. The reason being you are shooting toward the bright spot which will create deep shadows.

Looking forward to the color version.

Here is one from the 4th of July.

Thanks Rich.

Another fine photo showcasing your city.

Four of the cars look familiar, but I'm not positive of makes & models. Starting at far right - maybe a '57 Chevy? The other red car might be a T-Bird. Is the white one an Edsel? Finally is the sporty car - maybe a Camaro or perhaps a Pontiac Trans Am (like in the old TV series The Rockford Files).

You make a good point about shadow details n my photo. There is more visible detail there in larger versions. And I tried to bring out more detail but it just looked like noise so I left the image alone at this point.

Here's one color version...

Dave, I like them both but the blue one is probably my fave so far.

There seem to be a lot of restored cars in your town, Rich.

Thanks Dave! You got the red cars ID right. The white one is a '58 Chevy Impala. The black one I didn't pay any attention to but I should have. Written on the rear quarter it says "Back the Blue." My youngest Grandson is a Police officer in Rapid City. The second largest City in SD.

Yes, I could tell it was noisy but the color version is my pick for #1!

Peter, yes we have many in town and a lot of out of town cars show up. We have a big show on the 20th of Sept I will be attending.
