Some very good photos above. You folks are talented, and Natalie's images are the best of a very good lot.
Some dried leaves I noticed early Wednesday morning... Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him! Nikon D7500 with Nikkor 18-300 mm; PSE2021, PSCS5 Ny Flickr Albums

Wow, Dave, I like this one....look at the detail of those leaves! Love the dark background...
Please, you are too kind in your statement about my images....but I have to disagree that they are the best...but thank you! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

Thanks Natalie.
On a short walk late this morning I spotted this flower that had seen better days. Sadly, it shows how Ron's roses have fared since his widow sold the house and renters moved in -- they don't know how or don't bother to give the roses the care they deserve. Nice leaves Dave and it looks like you can get some rosehips to eat if they aren't dead heading their roses. Nice shot of a fertilised fruit.
Mine is of native medicine grass seed heads. Cymbopogon ambiguus

Thanks MFI.
I always enjoy seeing your photos of your unique flora and fauna. Another of Ron's roses in decline... I'll post the last one tomorrow. Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him! Nikon D7500 with Nikkor 18-300 mm; PSE2021, PSCS5 Ny Flickr Albums

Here's the last one I have for this Challenge. Like my previous ones it documents how Ron's roses have suffered due to neglect on the part of the new renters.
For this one I wanted to contrast the sadness of the dead flower with some color to lift the mood a bit, so I positioned myself until I had some background color. After I processed the image I wondered if the color stole the attention from the main subject but I've talked myself into believing the value contrast of the dead flower, its position in the composition, and its sharpness against the soft background are enough for the flower to be the COI. Some more great additions to this thread!
Dave, I like your first rose best, in post #34. Peter, interesting medicine grass....the hairs must help the wind to scatter the seeds!

The medicine grass is also known as native lemongrass, cough grass. Dave, I liked the contrast you tried to achieve in your last. This has less contrast, maybe I could play with that. Whatizit? It is probably butterfly eggs.
