I just checked the forum and saw this challenge. All images are great! Here is a tree stump in The Black Hills.

Edit to add photo.
Another. I may have posted this one previously.

LOL! I gave the name in the post....it's a velvetleaf weed....noxious weed that is a problem in corn and bean fields....it is a problem, but it has velvety leaves about 7 inches across and the seed pods are interesting. Not sure what the bugs are, NOT ladybugs.....

Love your leaves on the water, Rich, Didn't spot it when I was here earlier.

Abutilon theophrasti. Thought I recognised your velvet leaf seed pods, Natalie.
We have a number of Abutilons native to Australia. None terribly harmful or weedy unless of course like all weeds, if they are moved to a new environment where there are no natural predaors that had evolved with the plant. Thus they can flourish and become annoying weeds.

Similar with animals out of place. Cats rabbits foxes pigs goats deer camels.. the list goes on. 'They all ran wild'. Which is actually the title of a book by a bloke called Eric Rolls. Who spent his life in roughly the same place I have.

Here's a bit of colour.

Natalie, LOL! I guess I was so impressed with them I didn't pay attention to the name. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks Peter! A colorful purple plant!

Very pretty, BUT the challenge was "Dead flowers, plants, leaves, etc."

To ID this, dead caterpillars and dried soybeans....so similar in this image, yet so different.
