Dave, are your photos on a drive that you can physically remove? I know I have a 2 or 3 drives that I have removed and stored when replacing with a larger capacity drive, for example. But, sometime back I purchased an interface that I can attach to the hard drive and then to a USB on the computer, and it appears as another drive. Then I can either transfer files or search for a file, then copy, etc. As I recall it wasn't extremely expensive and has come in handy a couple of times.
