Hello all.
Peter, you know my love of abstracts, and I REALLY like your ICM post. The variegation got lights and darks and shades of red creates drama and interest . This is worthy of printing.
Don, how exciting to return home with a bucket full of potential winners. You started off well with this moody B&W night scene. I look forward to seeing more.
Well gang, I am on the mend now. My mantra is “slow but steady” and this is day number 23 since surgery. I must admit, I thought the recovery would progress faster and maybe it would have if there wasn’t a major bump in the road that occurred the first week after getting my total hip replacement.
I came home the same day as surgery and for the first few days all was going well but I had no appetite and was barely eating or drinking much. To avoid pain, infections s and blood clots, the doctor prescribed a myriad of antibiotics, anti inflammatory pills, aspirin and pain meds. And since I had no appetite and an empty stomach, I really messed up and ended up in the hospital for three days with internal bleeding.
This was worse than the hip surgery since I was confined to a hospital bed for three days as my hemoglobin dropped from 13.1 presurgery level to 7.1. My veins in my arms also collapsed and went into hiding and it was torture for the specialist to start a new IV prior to an endoscopy that was scheduled to see what was happening on the inside.
I really did a number on myself by taking those meds on an empty stomach. I have a duodenal ulcer and damage to my esophagus and stomach lining. I was released after three days and came home with more pills. I was now taking 14 pills in one day and they had to be timed at specific intervals. Certain pills had to be taken on an empty stomach, others on a full stomach, some not within 30 minutes of other pills and another not within 2 hours of another pill .
OMG, the first night I was home from the hospital , I was crying as I tried to assemble my “ pill log”. But I did it, and after 10 days, I am down to 10 pills a day.
I started PT. That is going well and my hip is getting stronger every day. I feel I would be much further ahead had it not been for the internal bleeding and I learned a good lesson, follow the warnings on the labels! I have no one to blame but myself.
Well, thanks for your messages and concern.
And a belated HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
LORELL
