Weekender May 03-04
#1
No Daily on Friday, only 1 response to the Thursday Daily - that's discouraging.

I hope this weekender gets more activity.

We're back to watching a hummingbird on the nest. Odds are that it's the same one we observed 6 to 8 weeks ago.

This time there is only one egg - 2eggs are more common. But raising just one nestling should make things easier for the incredibly hard-working mother hummer.

Here she is incubating the egg; photo taken 2 days ago...

Every time I see the eggs I am amazed at how small they are: about the size of a small jellybean and maybe slightly larger than a navy bean or a great northern bean.

This was a challenging shot because the area is so dark and I couldn't shoot as slowly as needed and still have any chance of a sharp photo. Fortunately my camera does a good job of taking low-light photos without much noise.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

A Wonderful photo Dave. Your camera does good in low light! Unreal how small the egg is.

Been on hiatus from the site. Waiting for some fresh photo ops. Attended our First Friday on Main last night so will get them processed today and post a few. Keep on keeping on my friend!

Thank you Rich.

I'm looking forward to seeing your latest photos.

Regarding my nesting hummer photo, I found it refreshing and liberating to produce a high key image rather than my usual dark ones. I should do it more often.

Thank you MFI.

For any who like to see the "before" image this is approximately what came out of the camera, before my processing...

Where's the llike button? Smile
That's a great result.
Though you are giving your camera credit, it was after all you who pressed the trigger. Wink

Dave, amazing job of getting a great photo out of the original!

Here is the beginning, first one, of the Sculpture Walk on our Main Street. We will be adding sculptures on a regular basis. This is called Hope. It shows stalks of wheat ready for harvest with creatures added in. I will get the full story and photos of the rest of the creatures later.

Rich. Long may your soils produce golden grain. Smile The ultimate sacrifice of much steel has been offered to the sky gods.

All I can offer at the moment apart from millions of sunset and sunrises, is more of the wijuglar.
Here it is "Where's Wally?".

and of course I could include some sunset imagery.

Thank you, MFI. I gotta ask: what is a wijuglar?

Lovely sunrise or sunset colors.

Thanks again, Rich. Your fine photos once again show me what a great town you live in.

A vivid rose taken early last month...

Thanks Peter and Dave!

Peter, looks like Wally is playing hide and seek! Beautiful colors in the sunset!

Dave this town is amazing and I would not like to live anywhere else.
What a beautiful rose! Would look good clutched in a Flamenco dancers teeth!

Here is a golf cart station wagon!

Thanks Rich and MFI,

A woodie golf cart! Somebody had fun with that imaginative concept, Don.

MFI, thanks for the links with all that good info on Major Mitchell's cockatoo.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
