Happy Hump Day.

Part of our front yard is enclosed by an old fence and thrown into shadow by a very large Jacaranda tree. Every part of it gets direct sunlight for no more than 10 minutes a day.

So it was pure luck that I was able to get this shot of a succulent bathed in a ray of sun...

MFI, I hope your discomfort now that the anesthetic has worn off isn't too severe. Odds are that I may end up in the same boat; the arthritis pain in both of my thumbs seems to be steadily becoming more acute and harder to tolerate.

As they say, getting old isn't for sissies.

We're in for 2-1/2 days of rain. Probably not heavy in my area, but intense in the areas of our recent fires. This brings a real possibility of debris and mud flow washing toxic chemicals into the unburned areas and possibility into reservoirs and even into the ocean. Not good.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi guys.
I am off to the dentist in an hour after one of my crowns came off last evening.  I will be glad after I get over this anxiety that has kept me up almost half the night.  I have to take 4 antibiotic pills one hour before I go the dentist because of my recent hip operation.

You are right, Dave, about getting old.  But unfortunately, I AM a SISSY!

Dave, you caught the light just right.  That  is beautiful. It is so nice how the leaves are rimmed in red.  It is perfect!

PS.  Shout out to Peter.  I hope you are comfortable and taking it easy.  Thanks for updating us in previous threads.

I'm now getting the blunt edged weapon thumping. Though the lovely surgeon lady supplied me with 20 Oxycodone tablets and said if you use those up, I'll give you a prescription for more. Clearly she knows it is going to hurt a lot.

Originally, my GP gave me a referral to her because I'd had an angle grinder blade explode on me and hit my hand. She'd said, "I can try but they are submillimetre and the odds of finding and removing them are very low. I can fix the trapezium that is a mess of broken bone that is arthritic. I'll take it out and replace it with some scrunched up tendon that I'll take from a tendon in your arm. I'll do a exploratory for these particles while I'm in there". Well she told me yesterday, yes on Wednesday, that she'd discovered that I'd cut a nerve which was likely what was causing my problems. So she grafted it back together.
It seems that I was in very good hands.

and it is four in the morning.
I must have had a good enough sleep under the anaesthetic.
Maybe I should give going to sleep a try.
However, it is a full moon and it is 24˚C which isn't really amenable for sleep. It is slightly better than 30 but still not comfortable without having an aircon going. The price of the energy to run that 24/7 gets a bit difficult to keep up when the long heat wave periods are on.
Though I'm thankful I don't live in Marble Bar with 160 consecutive days above 37.8C or Oodnatatta which topped it's February record yesterday by measuring 48.7C.

Have had several storms form up here like the above and move away to intensify and wreak havoc on some other poor suckers. One smashed a nearby town with huge hailstones at dawn. Knocking hundreds of birds from their perches, killing and maiming them. They sent out requests for vetinary surgeons in nearby towns to help with all the birds and small animals being picked up by hundreds of concerned locals.

blocks of hailstones being loaded into a truck.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.
