I've seen Western Bluebirds only a few times in my neighborhood - they prefer higher altitude forested areas.

But while walking late yesterday morning I saw a flash of blue and spotted a lone male and managed a few quick photos.

First, he's leaving a perch on a driver's side mirror...

And here he is on the roof...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Nice blue bird Dave. We have seen them out west but we are too far east to get them here. We do have Eastern Bluebirds of course, which are relatively common.

Just got back yesterday from a week (including travel there and back) in Texas at a music festival. Captured this image of a cello player one night on the stage. I thought B&W suited it.

Dave , awesome capture, especially the first one!
Lovely presentation!

Don, welcome back!
Well done on the cello player. B&W perfect! Noticed the blurred fingers so he was actually playing and noy posing!

Thanks Don, and welcome back.

Yes, B&W suits your fine photo (your value control is impressive) very well.

Thank you, Rich.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

B&W is perfect, Don. Smile

Any bird shot that isn't a blur, is a good one. Smile

Your bluebird shots are good ones, Dave. Smile

A question, is this bluebird doing what some of our birds do? Which is attack their reflection in mirrors and on windows?

Thanks MFI.

The bluebird was just using the mirror as a place to roost for a moment; I didn't see him taking any notice of his reflection.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi everyone!  For some reason, my previous account got deleted. I thought I had been on at least in the last year, maybe not. I used to be DesertDarlene, but it wouldn't let me use that name because it was too long.

I got a nice new camera lens last year and I've been going to bird festivals. I'll work on my signature for here soon.

Here are some photos I took:
