Dave said:  "For me it was worth getting wet.".
It sure was, friend.  That looks like a heavy load for that beautifully velvety rose to hold.  Glad you got to start the new year off with a fresh and perfect rose from Ron's garden.

And a Happy New Year from me to all of my FOTO FRIENDS

Don, those games sure were exciting.  I feel so bad for the OHIO kicker.  OMG, when will, if ever, he be able to shake the missed field goal attempt?
Two great games, I hope the playoff game goes as well next week.  Michigan just didn't play up to par.  I wonder if they were looking past that game and into next week's championship match.

Here is the first photo I took in 2023.  I actually took several of a snowglobe that my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas.  I focused on different areas then combined them in my Affinity software. The snow globe is so pretty.  It is battery-operated and besides the lights coming on inside, it swirls the water and flakes around. You can sit and gaze at it for a long time and just relax and enjoy.  The buck stands only 1 3/4 tall. This makes it a perfect size to submit for the first challenge on Macro Mondays, "a gift".

I hope you enjoy it.

Lorell, what an awesome engine, The Polar Express! Beautiful capture and framing! Being below the tracks makes it look hugh!

Thanks Peter.
I always wanted to learn a new language but I don't think Gaelic is the one!
Nice crisp photo and good lighting!

Dave, I agree with Lorell! Sorry you had to get wet but well worth it! Beautiful!

Lorell, a good macro! I like the snow falling and the camera makes it appear the deer are watching it snow.
I agree with you on the camera club assignments. They would really make me think of different ways to meet it creatively.

I forgot to thank those who commented on my first photo, and to comment myself on the earlier photos.

Rich, you did great with your Cool Pix - excellent images of those abandoned buildings. And thanks for commenting on my floral macro, and my second one.

Thanks Lorell. Another top notch capture of the Pere Marquette 1225. What a cool photo of the snow globe. And thanks for your second comment.

And thanks also to Don and MFI. Very nice capture of those lovely flowers, MFI.

I was glad underdog TCU upset Michigan; I can't stand coach Harbaugh, and even though I was born in Michigan and raised there until my early teens I always root against Michigan football (sorry Lorell).

I lived in Cincinnati from Junior High through High school, got married there, and we lived there for several years before moving to California. Still, I wasn't surprised nor was I upset that Georgia edged Ohio State..

I sure would like to see TCU win the national championship, but I suspect Georgia is just too good.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hey Grant, Happy New Year! Looks like that might have been one of your boys way back when. Spring photos are always welcomed at this time of the year.
Dave, the Detroit Lions winning big helped me get over the University of Michigan's loss yesterday.
Rich, your cardinal watercolor painting is gorgeous. You certainly have not lost your touch.
Peter, do you actually speak Gaeilge? It looks like it would be a difficult language.

No I don't speak My ancestral language but I'm about to try.

Dave, reading in the news today, Monday, about the heavy rains in CA! Wow, feast or fammine for you. A rule of thumb for us is 12 inches of snow, depending on the moisture content, equals about 1 inch of rain. Stay safe! Hope the power doesn't drop out.

Thanks Grant. What a great action shot, I have one very similar to that of my son about that age.

Peter, I looked at the link...I wish you the best! Looks and sounds very difficult.

Thanks for looking Lorell!

Peter, that is the prettiest  blue flower along with a couple of bugs.

MFI, that's a wonderful shot from your garden. I'm glad you included the yellow flower in the background - it makes the perfectly focused blue flower sing.

BTW, I'm approximately 10% Irish. But I don't plan on mastering Gaelic; that's too difficult of a trick for this old dog to learn.

Rich, thanks for your concern. But the areas with serious flooding and power outages are far north of me.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
