WhatIzIt ???
Is it part of a mouse or rat trap?

or perhaps the handle of a kettle?

No, not part of a rodent trap, (This guess made me smile, and I'm genuinely impressed by how easily some of you can think outside of the box.)

No, not a handle of any sort.

I'll post another photo of the object in a few hours and wait to see if that helps. If not, I'll give a clue that should be useful.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Oh I've been inside and outside the box.
I can't quite envisage whether the rings are connected to each other or the wire.
This in iself doesn't fit any of the guesses I've offered.

Here's the promised side view. You can now see that there aren't separate rings - it's one long coiled piece, attached to the left and right vertical pieces and to the horizontal piece.

A handle for a teapot or maybe a basket?
I was going to guess part of an electromagnet, but it's not quite right for that.

Sorry, but not part of a teapot or basket.

You're right that it has nothing to do with an electromagnet.

Is it time for another clue?

Looks like a spring of sorts

Yes, it is kinda springy. But that doesn't describe what the item is or specify what function it performs.

Is it time for a clue?
