Good day to you all.
Poppies magically appear in many yards in my neighborhood; this one sprouted between pine cones I had gathered and placed in the parkway area (between the sidewalk and the street) in front of my house...
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Gee, I wish I had those poppies show up all over the place....what a lovely pop of color! You are up early, Dave!!
I went antiquing with my brother the other day, and I saw this phone on the wall, and it reminded me of the phones Lorell had posted from the museum.....I never saw one of these phones except on TV shows like Lassie or the Waltons....you had to crank the handle to hear a ring...and there were party lines. It always has amazed me on how phones work, but today almost all technology amazes me.
Good morning All!
Thanks for starting us off today, Dave. The color of the poppy is unusual!
Like Natalie said, I wish I had poppies popping up all over!
Hi Natalie!
I love those old phones. My Grandfather had a dairy farm up in the NY Catskill mountains
and they had a party line. It was one notch above having to climb a pole to talk on the phone
(Green Acres tv show...LOL)
Thats a nice looking phone and sketches to the left of it are pretty nice too!
I just took this a short while ago. Its overcast and possible rain (we had rain yesterday too)
Dave, That's a nice day brightener! Isn't it amazing something so pretty can come from one tiny poppy seed?
Natalie, that is an oldie! I never grew up with one of those but they were really special for that age period!
Patty, that's a special flower too! Dew drops add interest!
No way could I take a flower photo this week. We are having gale force winds. Got a teaspoon of rain yesterday.
After the rain about sunset these clouds appeared. Shot through my balcony doors.
Hey there fellow photographers. Greetings from a wet and dreary Michigan. I had a good morning though, I met with a good friend of mine. We enjoyed sharing stories as we ate breakfast at a local family diner. Our waitress was so sweet. Boy, that sure makes a difference.
Natalie, as soon as I saw your phone photo, I thought of mine and then I read that you were thinking the same thing. I think it is so cool when I go places and certain objects make me think of you all.
Patty, It looks like the big WHITE LIGHTBOX in the sky was set at the perfect exposure for you to grab an awesome image like that. Those are azaleas, correct? I will be seeing a lot of those hopefully starting tomorrow as my husband will be glued to the TV watching the first big golf outing of the season at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. I enjoy watching it too.
Dave, thanks for starting our daily. Ditto to what has been said already, the coloring is bright and beautiful and a real eyecatccher. It looks good amongst the pine needles.
Rich, We are expecting that rain to come our way and be with us for the rest of the week. Boo Hoo, I just wish it would warm up a bit. The cloud formation is gorgeous as is the gradient of colors from peach to blue. My goodness, that is nice.
Well, given the variety that you have made available, I decided to continue with Natalie's antique theme.
Hope you are not getting tired of these images from the Ford museum. As a matter of fact, I talked my friend into going with me to the museum. It is just an exciting place to visit and now I get a big kick out of taking people there. My best friend's father from growing up had a cream-colored VW. When she was old enough to drive and eventually needed a car. She got his VW. It felt like driving around in a bubble with not a lot of insulation. I am pretty sure that it was a stick shift too.
Patty, azalias are so beautiful! What a bright color! I wish I could grow them, but all that I ever planted died.....our hard clay soil does not grow them......
Rich, I love when the sun hits clouds like that!! Beautiful!
Lorell, we must be on the same psychic channel. Mental telepathy. Love your VW. When I went out with my husband first date and for 2 years, he was driving a cream colored VW. When I was at the antique store last weekend, I saw this small model and said I have to have it! It was my husband's old cream VW!! We spent many hours in that thing driving, listening to old songs, and talking a lot...Not to mention some necking, however in a bug that was not easy!! LOL!! I had a navy blue Kharman Ghia.
Thanks Lorell, We're looking for warm too. Neat poster, Not a whole lot of room in them!
Natalie, Thanks!
Good looking model!
WoW, a Kharmen Ghia, you must have been rich!! I had a black beetle for a while, no necking though. We did that in my 65' Barracuda! Bucket seats and a 4 speed on the floor.
Ah, Natalie. You would have kicked yourself if you left that antique shot without that mini VW. I do have have a strong telepathic radar. And there was no rythme or reason why I picked that particular photo from the over 800 I took from my two trips to the museum. But now I know…wave lengths, telepathic waves lengths. I heard you sister, loud and clear.
Not only the poster, Lorell, you even said, "best friend's father from growing up had a cream-colored VW"
"I heard you sister, loud and clear." I think so!!
Rich, I bet your car cost more than my Ghia, even if it was brand new!! It's all I could afford at the time......
""We did that in my 65' Barracuda! Bucket seats and a 4 speed on the floor."" Sounds like fun!!
Thanks all for the nice reactions to my poppy photo.
Natalie, that's a great capture.
Same goes for your Azalea, damar.
Rich, that's a very fine photo. The light on top of the clouds is beautiful and dramatic, yet not as overdone as I tend to do.
Love the Beetle image, Lorell.
Natalie, I'm glad you saw and acquired that model Beetle. Very nice. I had a memorable college weekend that involved a Beetle. Fully packed with 4 people, a tent, a camping stove, food, and of course ample amounts of beer (I said it was back when we were in college).
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
