Greetings All!
Sorry about being MIA for so long; hadn't been feeling too good for a few weeks and am finally starting to get back to normal.
Easy does it.
We had 3 inches of snow last weekend and I didn't feel well enough to go out and take photos so I have one here from my archive.
And old farmstead not far from here.
We have some possible ice and freezing rain up next so maybe there will be a photo op there.

Hi Patty, Good to hear that you are feeling better!

Wind chill had us at -40° yesterday. Today we will warm to just above freezing.

Patty, Glad that you have returned.  WE MISSED YOU SOOOOOO MUCH.

This year for some reason, I really hate the cold and am having trouble getting myself to go outdoors. I have missed taking photos after our  first two heavy snow falls and we may not get anything to shoot before we go to Florida.  Next month's topic for or local photo club is SNOWscapes, and I certainly can't capture that on Anna Maria Island.

Patty this is a real sweet photo of the little house with the snow covering the roof, clinging to the trees, and gently falling to the ground.  It's got it all.  They certainly have a pretty set up there. It looks so picturesque and peaceful.

So, I decided not to use the photo that I shared yesterday for the local photo club meeting tonight. Thanks again for your wise advice.  I chose to submit this mural from an alley in Detroit.  I worked on it in Topaz for a while to increase the pop and drama.  It will be the last of the nine photos that I shared for our January meeting.

Patty, take it easy and don't overdo it.
Have a good day all.
LORELL

PS. Grant, you were posting while I was composing.  I do not know how you are handling the cold and I will stop complaining.
Maybe this photo will warm you up a bit.

I just happened to come across this little bit of information.  And since we were talking about the Shriner's organization the other day, I thought I would share this with you.

Do you know that the CEO of *Shriners’*, the Imperial Potentate, makes
$0.00 per year? How about that for a salary? There are 22 hospitals helping kids in Canada , the USA and in Mexico . His salary is matched by the Provincial Potentate’s income which is also $0.00 per year.

So the next time you see a Shriner in a mall, selling whatever, give generously.

Glad you're starting to feel better, damar. You have been missed.

Nice wintry photo.

Hi Lorell; you posted as I was correcting my usual typos. Interesting info, and quite admirable. Nice image too.

I had to go back to my archives again; another from March 2005 that I just cropped and reprocessed...

Stay safe and healthy, everyone.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Welcome Home Patty! Glad you are better!
Quite a nice area to live. Good capture of the falling snow.

Grant, we weren't too far behind you on the wind chill, better today, light SOUTH wind will warm us up for a few days.

Lorell, interesting info on the Shriner Executives. Good to know!
The mural and your adjustments really brings the dragon to life, beautiful!

Dave, interesting image of the water drops. These are interesting to paint too!

Since we have a cold look to todays daily here is the Penguin house in our zoo, Circa 2003.

All good pics today.
I guess penguins are dressed for the cold.
I suppose Patty does not see much snow.
Lorell, Stay safe in Omicron country. Funny I used to have a set of Omicron EL enlarging lenses.
Dave, I like your water drops. Do you put them there? Or do you find them like that?

Here is another from family history. My Baba.

Good afternoon all - Patty, WELCOME BACK. I think we all were a bit worried about you!

As I mentioned yesterday, much different weather now than yesterday. Yesterday I was tooling around on the motorbike, enjoying the mild temp and slight breeze, today it has been rain, rain and more rain. And temps are expected to drop drastically over the next few days.

I like the old farmstead photo. I try to stop whenever I see one of those old houses.

Impressive work Lorell. Glad you got to have a meeting, ours was cancelled for last Tuesday. Hopefully we will meet next month, but who knows.

Can't go wrong with rain or water drops on a leaf Dave.

Nice informal portrait of your "Baba" Grant.

I order fairly often from BH Photo in NY, using their Payboo card which gives a rebate equal to the state tax on orders. Has saved me a bit of change over the years as I always paid the account off at month end. They changed their issuing bank so I had to apply for a new card, which I did today. I need to order some film but i might wait until after the first of the month to do it.

Going through those old negs and slides and came across this one of DD when she was a very wee tyke. Her expression is priceless, like "who, me?"

Thanks Everyone!
I missed y’all too!
Don, your photo of your DD is flat out adorable!
Grant, your Baba is a nice close up and would probably crop nicely.
Pretty water drops Dave!
Penguins! How cool, Rich!
Lorell, I saved your for last cause I wanted to ask you if this is a mural?
Painted on real bricks? Or bricks part of the painting? It’s pretty scary looking.

Don, I melted when I saw the photo of your DD. She had you wrapped around your finger from birth!

Grant, a nice memory of your grandma.  I hope you are adding information to all the photos that you are going through so that your children will know who they are looking at when they inherit these precious memories.

Rich, we have a nice penguin house at the Detroit zoom, but unfortunately it has been closed for two years now because it had a serious leak in the aquarium part where the penguins could swim freely throughout the building.

Dave, you captured the water droplets very well. Did you use a polarizing filter?

Patty, I answered your question in Friday's thread.

Thanks Rich, Grant, Don, damar, and Lorell.

No, I don't think I added the drops of water myself. Nor did I use a filter. I tweaked the green because it was too "electric" and vivid for my tastes, cropped a bit for composition, and boosted the brightness and tonal contrast in a few of the water drops.

You can't go wrong with photos of penguins, Rich. Cool photo (pun unintended).

Another fine bit of family history, Grant. I'll bet it captures a lot of her personality.

What a beautiful little girl, Don. (My kids are half Asian; my wife, although born in Wisconsin, is 100% Chinese - her parents came over in the late 1940s. (And that's an amazing, admirable story in itself.)

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
