TGIF!

Yesterday I took a bunch of shots of a red flower hanging from a basket on the side of our garage.

Here's one...

I wish us all a good weekend.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Rich.

I worked hard on the composition, and ended up flipping the image horizontally. Also removed some green growth at top right that led the eye out of the image.

The lighting took some effort too: the green foliage was originally too light and vibrant, drawing the eye to this unimportant part. So I de-saturated the greens and darkened the right 25% of the image. Then I had to brighten the red petals in some areas to make it stand out as the COI. This was tricky because reds can often turn out jarringly oversaturated. So I had to use restraint (which doesn't come easily to me) on this area.

Finally, I had to remove some scars on the stucco wall in the background caused by earlier plants that adhered to the wall. Content Aware Fill did a great job of eliminating these scars.

Overall I am satisfied with the resulting image and enjoyed the 45 minutes of processing it.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
