Good morning to all. Another early rise for me, up before 5 AM. As soon as the local grocery store opens I need to make a quick run for some eggs, fruit, etc.

Nothing new to share, so this is from the old negatives/slides I recently found. Coming back into the US from Canada, probably late 70's. We had been tent camping in Ontario.

Good day gentlemen.

Don, thanks for starting our daily. Your photo reminds me of the many times I have gone over the border.  It always makes me nervous.  It use to be not a big thing but it has become increasingly more stressful.

Well, this time tomorrow I will be freezing my fanny off as I take photographs of ice-covered lighthouses on the shores of Lake Michigan.  I wish I had a longer lens.  One of the photographers has a 600!  He should be able to pull in those tall structures quite well.

in the meantime let me share a close-up  that I used for MacroMonday this Monday.

All I've got is bark. It can be rough or it can be smooth. It can be persistent or decorticating. We loosely group those which do shed their bark annually, "gum". Though gums may be mighty forest giants or shrubby, they share this shedding of bark. This one is commonly known as Silver Gimlet.

Peter, It is painterly, Quite abstract but it has all the componets of a Great piece of art. I like it. You have a good eye.
