Morning All,
Another old negative. I experimented with slow shutter speeds and movement.

Good morning, Grant. It is photographs like this that grab my attention. Lately I feel stagnant with the photographs that I have been taking and images like this definitely show creativity and demand attention.

I have my local photo club meeting this week, so I shall be sharing a photo or two with you to get your reaction. Be back after I get a cup of warm tea in me.

PS. I Left some comments on yesterday’s daily.

Lorell, The secret to engaging images is to choreograph the image with a compositional roadmap. You do this. Yesterdays splash of light across Abe squeezed in the micrometer was engaging and did grab my attention. The successful work of art manages to force the viewer to participate in some way thereby learning something. You mostly do this as well.

Thanks, Grant, I really appreciate that.  I really do.
So, the special assignment for this week's photo club meeting is BLUE.
Here is one I played with last night.  I think that the subject is blue will qualify this satisfactory for the challenge. Do you think I should lighten the shadows a bit?

Absolutely. Go with your gut feeling. You have a good sense of how you should massage the image. Realize there is less blue in the Shutter shadow. It will read silver grey there.

Very nice, Grant. I think it's a definite plus that the lad isn't tack sharp - that. to me, emphasizes the speed and never-ending energy of youth.

Lorell, I agree with Grant, both in his statement about your consistently demonstrated skill as a photographer and in his comments about your photo. I like the photo: the complementary color action, the light & shadows, and the framing of the shutters. IMO it certainly qualifies for a BLUE theme.

I jumped into the Way Back Machine again (back to 2005-03-27) for this shot that I don't remember processing before...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Grant and Dave, thanks for the critique.

Dace, I would call that "LIVING on the EDGE". What a great crop that is and with such vivid colors.
That's a winner.

Good action shot Grant, You achieved your goals!

Lorell, this is a mighty fine image. I probably would lighten them a tiny bit but  you have the final say. Do as Grant says, go with the gut. I have said this before, you only have to please two people, you and the buyer or in this case the judges and they can be an ornery lot!

Watch out for a cold snap. windy, but little or no snow.

Dave, that is an amazing find! Love Lorells title!

Here is a soft shot I took this morning of the Wolf Moon. Lots of light clouds and a 960 mm lens makes for softness. Taken through my balcony doors didn't help either.

Thanks Lorell and Rich. I think the photo directs the eye well: starting, of course with the ladybug (did anyone notice the pollen stuck to its legs and head?), the along the curved petal to the yellow structure, from there curving down gently along the white petal and then back up the same petal, and finally settling again on the ladybug. Of course, I did not consciously plan any of this, but I'll take it.

Lorell, I had the exact same title in mind. BTW, let us know how your photo fares at the meeting.

Rich, your Wolf Moon photo has an eerie, almost threatening mood. Nicely shot.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Lorell,
I forgot to thank you for your inspiring and kind words. Those I also appreciate. Although BLUe is the theme for your challenge Orange completes and compliments your image. I bet when you squeezed the shutter you were trusting your GUt....
Keep doing that.
Dave,
I also thank you for your perspective. BTW I think although not Tack Sharp, my image had just enough sharp bits especially in my son's shirt. Bits sharp enough while panning the motion to be a keeper.
Your image. You said you did not plan it but you would keep it....
I think you trusted your gut when you touched the shutter. Your feeling paid off!
Rich, The Full Moon. You shot it. I only had crazy dreams.
