Weekender December 6th-7th 2025

Happy weekend!

Here's the final of the Rose with Dewdrops photos that I took last month. To my eye the nice light gives the petals a pleasing glow.

As usual it was just a case of being in the right place at the right time, camera in hand, and keeping my eyes looking for what scenes Mother Nature presents, and trying to expand my imagination so I could see a potentially good photo that I could have missed

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning Dave. That is an excellent image. I really enjoy your rose photos.

I've been going through some old (and some very old) images lately. I found this one taken around 1968 or so. I guess I was trying to do a still life. Smile

Anyway, I'm calling it Southern Comfort and cheap guitars. Back in the late 60's I was really just getting interested in photography. From the grain this was probably Tri-X film.

DW and I are taking in a movie today, then watching the SEC championship game this afternoon. Hope all have a good weekend.

Thanks, Don.

Your excellent photo (composition, values, and presentation) took me back to the 60s - I started college in fall of 1967.

Dylan and The Mamas and The Papas were flying high back then. I also fondly remember Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring the incomparable Janis Joplin), the Beatles and the Stones, of course. Peter, Paul, and Mary. And closer to the 70s there was Cat Stevens. Plus Carole King and James Taylor. And let's not forget Eric Burden and the Animals (House of the Rising Sun remains an absolute favorite. Add in The Hollies, The Byrds, The Who, Linda Rondstat, and many more. What a great musical era that was!

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave another beauty!. I think a long time ago I told you that I seldom got out early enough to take a photo with dew drops on it. I always carried a spritzer bottle with a bit of glycerin in it to spray on the flowers.
Dave, right on with the music genre. I was a little earlier, late 50's, to mid 60's. The best music, cars!

Don, Love the nostalgic feel to it. Brings back some memories!
Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned!

Here is one of my still life setups from the wayback machine!

Dave. That rose is so crisply scrumptious like you wrapped it in dewdrops and then imbued it with a glowing warmth.

Don. Somewhere from back in the day I did a still life with a guitar. I'll see if I can dig it out. It has no southern comfort though. One thing that stood out for me in that photo was the tranny. Transistor radios were in everyone's pockets back in the day.

Rich. The soft pink hues really make this.

Working in the garden, I turn around and this juvenile dragon was sitting there watching.
Still there after I went to get a camera.

Thanks guys.

Rich, I had heard of this useful tip regarding glycerin years ago and I do remember you mentioning it. I've never used it, although I've used a small spray bottle of distilled water a few times.

Beautiful photo.

Regarding yesterday's football games, I think t he results should get Notre Dame into the Championship tournament. And it'll be interesting to see who wins in the NFL games. The big games look to be Indianapolis at Jacksonville, Pittsburgh at Baltimore, Chicago at Green Bay, Houston at KC, and Philly @ LA Chargers. I'm predicting that in the AFC Denver will beat New England and advance to the Super Bowl,, while in the NFC I have the LA Rams beating a surprisingly strong Chicago Bears team. And in the Super Bowl I'm going with the Rams to beat Denver by 7 points or fewer.

MFI, nice capture of the young dragon. Thanks so much for your kind (and very poetic) words.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
