I know what a Tawny Frogmouth is thanks to a local photographer who traveled extensively and whose website I created and maintained for years. Still, my initial reaction to the first photo didn't involve a bird; I saw a terrific mix of botanical textures.

Your second photo corrected my misunderstanding.

Fine photos of a tiny part of the amazing flora and fauna of your continent. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Another leaf with reddish details caught in a ray of early morning light...

I like how the soft blue-green background makes the leaf look quite sharp.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

WoW Peter, amazing camouflage!

I like the lighting on this one Dave!

Our last first Friday on Main for the summer. Shown is our City Mascot Cornelius in a photo op!

Thanks for comments Dave and Rich. Smile

Dave, your photo has great structural beauty, building from the background to the foreground. Excellent lighting.

Rich, your corn cob is hugging the women and ignoring the men. Just an observation.

Thank you, Rich. Another fun photo celebrating the Corn Festival.

Thank you MFI. "Structural beauty" never entered my mind, but I was aware that the image had pleasing depth, so I guess we're talking about the same thing.

An observation about your observation: one's thoughts about Cornelius hugging only the women might be different depending on the gender of the person wearing the corn costume.

Yes, depth.
Gender?
Yeah well, that could be the issue. Wink
