Thought I would start the daily. Playing around with an old brassy.

Nothing exceptional

Not trying for sharp just a bit of a glow

Hello, Grant.....guess everyone is busy or resting....I am still recovering from Saturday. Got sunburn, too, which always makes me feel a bit ill.....
That's an intersting effect....wonder if it would create ethereal wedding photos? Nice looking piece of equipment!

Grant, thanks for starting the Daily.

I agree with Natalie: 1) that's a pleasant effect, and 2) impressive equipment.

Hi Natalie. What happened yesterday that you have to recover from? Sorry about the sunburn.

Speaking of sunburns, today in my SoCal area that's a distinct possibility; at 12:45 the thermometer outside my door (and in the shade) read 88 F (31 C). So it's probably gonna top out in the mid 90s (around 35 C). Whew!

During one of yesterday's walk, my peripheral vision caught a flash of vivid blue. A Western Bluebird had just dropped onto a neighbor's lawn. I hurried to turn on the camera but startled the bird. So all I could get was a photo of it perching high overhead on a utility wire...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

1970's Nikon BB4 Bellows used with Componon S Enlarging lens.
This month in Lorell's Challenge using type. The BEES were taken with this rig...

Buch-Bis-Telar Literally cooked. My friend was trying to warm it up on a hot stove to loosen the balsam used to cement the elements together and he forgot it. The funny thing is that Cooke lenses are the world's best soft focus lenses and I could not bring myself to shell out the 5K.
Evan gifted me his damaged lens and told me to try it without the front element.

I posted this in that other forum.

Good day all.
Yes, I have been rather busy all week and now into the weekend.
We went over to some friend's house who we have not seen for over two years due to the pandemic. We did not go out to eat because the husband does not feel comfortable doing that just yet but had a nice dinner at their house and we played EUCHRE afterward.  The gals lost.  But we will get them next time!

Thanks for the bird and lovely blooms you shared with us today, Grant and Dave.  Grant, I remember falling in love with that effect when I saw that photo in WC. It is one of those techniques that appeal to some but others.  I think I recall that you took to the time to explain how you achieved it.  Besides the blurred effect, the image has such a nice shade of pink and SAGE-colored leaves.  What a great combination.

Dave,
Those bluebirds have a pretty song if I am correct.  That color blue is so pretty. And the fact that it is next to the orange on the chest makes it an eye-catching color combination.  I bet it is hot in your area, we got up to 82 today but storms are on the way and it is going to cool off for the next two weeks. Oh dear, here we go again. But because of the recent rain and warmer temps, all the trees are blossoming now. When I was driving home from my daughter's today after delivering her a huge pot of homemade chicken soup (poor girl has COVID), I kept getting distracted by the beautiful and abundant blossoms on the trees.  My daughter has to stay home from teaching school for 6 days from the day she started with the symptoms and then wear a mask for the following five days.  She has a fever, sore throat, congestion, and feels run down.  Hopefully, my soup will make her better.

OKAY, This is a SUPER manipped image.  I started in Dynamic Painting then to  LightRoom, then Topaz and finally Luminar NEO.  It looks nothing like the original, Hee hee.

LORELL

ps These are blossoms from a previous year.  You know how I like to go creative on Sundays.

Yes Lorell, Quite Right!
A good friend was recovering from 2 Detached Retinas and he was not a fan of the blurry image.
Thank you for the kind words.
Hope you are okay seeing the mums again.

OKAY, Here is another version.
I am attempting to learn how to use the MIXER Brush in Photoshop.
There are so many setting to this brush and it is still very confusing for me.
I want to blur and feather by hand.  I did this all using the mouse, but need to get my WACOM tool out for more precise strokes.
I hope this doesn't hurt your eyes.
I want something like this but MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

Lovely floral images Lorell and Grant. At least you got a photo, Dave. Wink Pretty bird.

My orthopaedic surgeon said that he's happy to allow me to build up strength and doesn't want to do follow up surgery for now.
So I can hold a camera up.

Here's a recent sunrise out my kitchen door.
