Good Morning and Welcome to the Weekend.
I worked on another Photo Challenge for Flickr which ended up being a really difficult challenge for me.

Topic:  Black on Black.
I tried several methods to get an acceptable image that I felt comfortable to share using suggestions that the Challenge site provided, but I kept striking out.  Finally last night I used a variation of LIGHT PAINTING to capture the LIONEL Toy Train Engine.  For this black on black image, I used the LIVE COMPOSITE Time Esposure setting on my Olympus camera.  The Model train engine was set on black velvet and I moved a white board around the toy engine while shining a small flash light on the white board.  This is all reflective light creating the highlights of the details on the toy train engine.  The Live Comp allows you to watch the light build up and when you are satisfied with the effect, you press the shutter again.  No light was direct shined on the engine.

Hope you have a wonderful start to your weekend.
LORELL
PS. Grant, Patty and Rich, please see comments I left at the bottom of Friday's daily.

Lorell, I am totally gobsmacked!! What an amazing photo and photo technique! You nailed it!! I just love the soft lighting bringing out the highlights. The angle of the engine is spot on! Everything came together to make a perfect B&W photo, black blacks, grey mid-tones and white highlights! Detail in the shadows. Perfect exposure! Well done!

Lorell, You nailed the image, but Rich nailed the praise. Nothing more to say.

This little guy is now 44. He was a petite youngster. I had just Disciplined his brother for putting his hand in front of my camera just as I pressed the shutter. Matt's response was. [Don't talk to my brother like that]

Thank you both so much.

Grant, once again, your family shots make me smile as you capture the perfect moments.
He looks like a real character.

Flawless image, Lorell.

Well said, Rich.

Ditto, Grant. And it's a good thing that you have so many older family photos on which to use your considerable skills.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
