Weekender Dec 14-15 2024
#1
I've taken no photos for a week until mid-morning today; got several florals that may we good enough to share, including this lovely yellow succulent...

I'm starting to plan a front yard relandscaping project for this spring and may include a few of these.

I wish us all a good weekend.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, well seen and recorded! I see a fine thread of silk  across the foreground leaves.

I am like Dave, not much to photograph around here so this one is from a trip to the Oregon coast vintage 2005.

What a lovely photo, Rich. Eye-pleasing composition: I like that the cloud mass replicates the shape of the hill, and then merges into the water at the horizon. Exceptional values too.

Thanks for your comments on my photo. That walk yielded at least 3 more photos that I think are good enough to share.

I think what looks like a thread is actually a sharp and lighter edge of one of the leaves.

Here's one: a few of these white flowering plants were located in a small landscaped island in the middle of a parking lot, a couple feet away from the yellow succulent...

Dave, that white rose looks like one of the thornless varieties.
Rich, that is a dramatic shot of the shore in Oregon. Is that low cloud or formed from mist spray?
Happiness simply is.

Hi everyone!  Here are a couple of photos I took at the lake yesterday. One is of an egret and grebe doing some cooperative fishing. The other is a gadwall (that was quite far away) giving me the side-eye.

Nice water as well as birds there Darlene.
Good to see you dropping in. Smile

I don't know whether anyone followed my nesting birds photos but this is one of the young grey butcherbirds.
Trying to cool off on a 40˚C day in my walnut tree.

Though I was quite close, it was difficult to get a good shooting angle. This shot at least shows that it was the shade the bird was seeking.

The white rose may indeed be thornless, MFI. I'll try to remember to check on that the next time I walk by.

Hi Darlene. I like the egret/grebe interaction. But I'd expect it to be more about competition than cooperation.

MFI again: nice photos of the butcherbird, especially the first, which is an outstanding capture.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave awesome exposure! With the dark background it would have been easy to overexpose the highlights! Excellent composition!

Thanks Dave and Peter! I am not sure if it is a cloud or clearing fog. Seems a little low for a cloud.

Hi Darlene good captures!

Peter the second one is a winner. Especially in a stare down contest!
