Friday Feb 03 2023 - Dave - 02-03-2023

TGIF fellow Foto Friends.

A front yard photo taken 5 days ago (yes, another succulent in a dark shadowed area) seemed to have possibilities, so I've been working on it.

1) something pretty close to SOOTC; obviously not suitable as is, but I wanted to show you what I started with...

2) I cropped and adjusted and made several color versions - here's one of them...

3) It occurred to me that I haven't done anything in grayscale for a while, so I had a go at it this morning...

Dave, Nicely done. It is the shape of a Christmas Tree. LOL

I decided to print a canvas for myself. This one will be 36x22. Summer scene.Canola Fields and Bison. It will have a 1/1/2 inch blurred mirror wrap [edge] and it will be coated satin no frame.

I have stretched many canvas prints during my career.

I know I shared this last summer. The white strip on top carries a title block. When it is stretched it will be right reading.

HI BOYS,
Sorry that I have been MIA.
Got some free time right now and decided to drop in to see how you all are doing.

Hey Grant, That will look so good hanging in your house. And is going to be big enough (36X22) to grabs everyone's attention.  What room is it going in?  You must have a pretty good printer and a whole lot of ink.  Is a special ink used to print on canvas?  I love how the colors pop especially with the beautiful clouds in the background.

By the way, I have been enjoying your dog photos.

Dave, thanks for starting the daily.
Those flowers and buds look almost too perfect to be real and I looked really hard for a flower that had seen better days but could not find one.
I enjoy looking at "versions"  of the same image.  Your LOW key capture creates an excellent mood and makes these images unique.

It is funny that you should post this photo in the FRIDAY DAILY. I have been working on an image to submit for Saturday's Flickr challenge for the SOS group.  SOS stands for Smile On Saturday.  The topic for this week is "COPY COLLAGE".  The directions say to make a collage of the SAME photo, as many times as you want but in different versions of the same image, and put it together to form a collage.

I took some photos of some pretty cool mannequins when I sent for my Downtown photo shoot and grabbed one to complete that challenge.  I did sort of what you did, Dave, with your flowers.

Happy Friday, all.
LORELL

Lorell, The printer uses pigmented water resistant inks but they need a specially coated canvas with an ink receptor coating for the ink to stick to. It is kind of like a painters GESSO. I now use a 3rd party ink vendor to save a large amount of $.It used to cost  5K AMD. for the 12 700ml carts, but now I pick up all 12 for $999.00.

The finishing is another skill set....

RE: Friday Feb 03 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 02-03-2023

It is a strange thing. Was talking with my visitiing daughter who was busy trying to capture photos of the native bees that inhabit my environs. She said, "They are so difficult to capture. They move so fast and with breezes, hand held camera etc.."
I said, can't you sharpen them up on the computer?
She said, dad... "You know I just want a good photo".
Good photos is what she does get. I'm so proud that she is so excited about photographing the hard to get bits of nature that otherwise would be missed. You've heard of the chip off the old block syndrome. She has better cameras than me too. Here she is getting the baby bearded dragon on her daughter's hand.

It isn't that I missed the work posted by Dave, Grant and Lorell.
I enjoy the artfulness and the knowledge.
