Monday, January 16, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 01-16-2023 Good Monday morning all. It is time to start a new week. The special assignment for my local club this month is TIME, here is one image that I shall submit. I still have to find two more. RE: Monday, January 16, 2023 - Dave - 01-16-2023 WOW! I like that Lorell. Powerfully dramatic light. I mentioned yesterday that I planned to post a photo today that was not a flower, a succulent, or a sunrise/sunset. Nor is it a bird, insect, or Pippin. I think our two photos have some similarities: overall dark, with strong light and shadow, and interesting forms and textures. RE: Monday, January 16, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 01-16-2023 Hey, Dave. I would love to put my sundial on top of that beautiful looking chest and photograph it. That is so cool . Great colors, Dave. What was sitting on top of the chest, your photo has me wondering. RE: Monday, January 16, 2023 - Dave - 01-16-2023 Lorell, This is an old battered trunk that a neighbor had placed outside by the street for anyone willing to haul it away. Coincidentally, this trunk was just a few feet from the small yellowish flower (MFI identified it for us as Oxalis) that I posted a few days ago. Sitting out there for over a week, it got very rain-soaked. Nothing was sitting on the top, but I had to crop an ugly background from the top of the image. I'm glad you noticed the colors; to my eye the contrast between the gray-blue and the rust color of the corner embellishments and the horizontal strips is one of the best things in the image. RE: Monday, January 16, 2023 - Dreamin - 01-16-2023 Lorell, This sundial is very dramatic! Love the light and the colors....well shot! Yes, the colors do match the old trunk Dave posted. Dave, I love old trunks, this one has quite fancy metal trim....They don't make things like they used to. Great colors....the blues and rusts go together well. You should have dragged it home. Sometimes things like this sell well....I once picked up a small oak plant table sitting on the street for the garbage truck and sold it for $125. RE: Monday, January 16, 2023 - Dave - 01-16-2023 Thanks Natalie. Much of the trunk is in terrible condition: in addition to getting soaked, the trunk has small rollers on the bottom and one side but half of them are missing. |
