Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Rich - 01-05-2023 Happy Thursday y'all! A beautiful blue sky, light wind day today and 15 F temps! Snow removal continues. Our condo parking lot is clean. We live on two intersecting emergency snow routes so they keep them clean all the time. Will be getting out for a very important appointment this afternoon, my bi-monthly massage! Just shot this photo quickly through a screen and a window so is a little soft. These are sparrows. Just as I started to take the screen off they flew. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Dave - 01-05-2023 Nice Rich. Looks sunny and cold, which sure beats snowing furiously and cold. As a warmer contrast, I found an old photo {March 2005 but newly processed yesterday) of Hazel. She was our first shelter dog, a beloved sweet girl. We had both her and Guinness together for a number of years. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 01-05-2023 Hey there all, Well, Rich, I am glad that the snow has stopped and you will be able to get that massage today. That is a sweet photo of the birdies in the bushes. It is always so pretty when the pure white snow reflects blue from the skies. I got out yesterday when I took my filthy car are a bath at the do-it-yourself car wash. It got up to 57 yesterday and although it started to drizzle as I was driving home, I got all of the salt off of the car and it looked a lot better. My car is white and you can't see the salt on the car, but since my black floor mats were turning white from the salt on my shoes, I figured it was time to take the car to clean it. Hey Dave, Hazel has such beautiful brown eyes. Sometimes it is tough to look at photos like that, it reminds us how much we miss our furry friends. Yesterday I spent some time backing up my files from my computer. I have a CLICK-FREE system that backs it up for me. I had not done this for over a year and it took 4 hours to back up all the files to an external drive. So, now I shall start deleting files from this computer to ensure that there is a lot of open space for things to run efficiently. I usually have about a third of the computer's hard drive free. Knock on wood, it has been working for me. So, I will TRY to find something to share. I probably told you already that I had to cancel a photo field trip for Saturday with the photo club because of Covid. There were only three people going so they decided to postpone it until the 21st of January. I shall be looking for things around the house to photograph now or digging into my archives. Be back with something to share in a few. LORELL PS. Well, I think I found a photo that can match the chill that I feel when I look at Rich's image. This is from Jan 28, 2022 and our club's trip to the the lighthouses on the west side of Michigan. I remember having to climb a hill to get this shot and wondering if I was going to be walking down the other side of the hill or rolling down it. It was so darn cold that day. But what a day. I do not think that you have seen this view. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Don - 01-05-2023 Good afternoon folks. wow, 15F Rich. It is 68 and sunny here right now. A little windy though. I was up on the roof yesterday trying to find where rain was getting in around the chimney and sealing some places. It was coming down the chimney and running on to the floor. Not good. Nice little shot of the sparrows. Hazel looks like she was a well tempered little gal, Dave. Lorell, I need to clean both of our vehicles but just can't seem to get around to it. I think I mentioned a while back that I did get on the trailer and gave the roof a good cleaning. I use a service called Back Blaze which continually backs up my files to the "cloud". The back ups are kept for 30 days before they are written over. I have used that a few times to restore one or more files. I put the finishing touches to a trip planned for May by purchasing some travel insurance. Plus we are leaving in 4 weeks to fly over to Laredo for the Laredo Birding Festival. After that we are going on over to Big Bend National Park for a few days before driving back to San Antonio to fly home. We are hoping to get some new life birds while there. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 01-05-2023 Finally, some good news. I had to get to the Battle ford Hospital in the next town for a procedure. We were driving early at Dark o'clock and ran into a deer. It took 9 weeks but our Government Insurance finally agreed to repair our 2013 Dodge Journey instead of declaring it a Total Loss. Other than the bumper it is in good shape with only 65,000 K / 40,000 Miles on it. So we are happy. WE like the car. Fog and Hoar Frost continue. Hardly see across the street today. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Rich - 01-05-2023 Thanks! A beautiful portrait Dave! I will echo Lorell's comment! Very poignant. WoW Lorell, what an awesome photo! Well worth the problems you had getting it. A Chamber of Commerce photo! I keep getting lost in it but the bold red lighthouse brings me right back! Tack sharp from front to back. I have an external hard drive. I save very little on the C Drive. Thanks Don. I quit climbing on the roof the last time I took my Ham antennas down which was a long time ago. Grant, good deal on the insurance. Gosh a bumper must really be expensive in Canada to consider a total loss. Looks pretty foggy and cold there! Well, my massage got canceled My therapist slid into a ditch and is stuck. She is OK. Happens with, now they say, 23 inches of snow. I have a candy apple red car and it shows everything just like a black one. Remember when you thought a black car would be good because it doesn't show the dirt???....NOT! RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 01-05-2023 Rich the repair is just under $9500. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Rich - 01-05-2023 WoW, I wonder what it is here! Blue sky shows off the frost! RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Dave - 01-05-2023 Thanks for the nice words about my Hazel photo, Lorell, Rich and Don. She was such a sweet (and wonderfully goofy) girl, and I agree that her eyes were lovely. She was very special to me. There are many quotes about dogs. Two that come to mind are: "Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are." "A dog is the only animal that loves you more than it loves itself." Lorell, that's a terrific photo! And yes, looking at our photos of our departed pets is bittersweet. Don, while I may go on the roof every once in a while, I probably shouldn't. I have a 1 TB secondary internal hard drive and several external drives: a 4 TB one and an 8 TB one connected to the PC, plus another 1 TB one that usually isn't connected because I've used up the available ports. I periodically back up all my data to the 8 TB drive, and yes it takes many hours. Grant, those are beautiful captures of ice-adorned trees; I especially like the first one. Glad you got your Dodge fixed. We had steady rain throughout the night and it was still coming down early in the morning when I usually take my first walk. Assuming it would continue even more strongly, I went out. Came back with wet boots, cold feet, and soaked jeans. Of course around 11:00 AM the rain stopped, the skies cleared, and we now have a beautiful sunny afternoon. RE: Thursday, 05 Jan, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 01-05-2023 Dave, Hazel has deep eyes. I am sure she is missed. A dog lover once said You are your puppies whole life, but they are only a portion of yours.... Lorell Your photo has a lot going for it. Not sure about the vignette though. But I love the content! Rich, shooting through the screen does not harm your image at all. |
