Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4, 2022 - Dave - 12-03-2022 Here's your weekend Daily. Below are two versions of the same photo that I took 12/1/22. The first processing... For the second I wanted it more orange, which is closer to the actual color before I processed #1... HMMMM??? When posted here it looks (on my screen) that there is very little difference between the 2 versions. But when I view them in either Photoshop or my image editor the difference is much stronger. Go figure. Soccer talk below - if that's not your thing please ignore. Today starts the knock-out rounds (one loss and out) of the World Cup. Here are my predictions for today's two games... USA (#16) vs Netherlands (#8) : regrettably I have to pick Netherlands to win Australia (#38) vs Argentina (#3) : Argentina will end the Aussies marvelous run Wishing you all a great weekend. RE: Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4, 2022 - Rich - 12-03-2022 Dave I like the first one best on my monitor. The second does have the orange tones in the shadows but a little washed out in the highlights. Both good though. Here is the last lock of the Panama Canal. Still a long way to go to get back in the ocean. RE: Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4, 2022 - Dave - 12-04-2022 Hi Rich. Nice photo of the final lock. are we looking towards the Pacific? Thanks for the comments on my photo versions. The odd thing is that on my screen the second looks much better. In the first the yellow is unnaturally intense and most of the intermediate gradations of yellow have been lost, while the second (much less intense and intentionally tinted a bit orange) preserves the intermediate colors. Same issue I've had for a while (my posted images look different in Photoshop and in my image viewer than they do on the site). I suspect it has something to do with different color spaces: I have my monitor set for a color space that is best for Photoshop editing and printing but my image viewer probably uses a different one, as I suspect this site does. Here's a photo from March 2017, but processed just yesterday... RE: Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4, 2022 - Luv2shoot - 12-04-2022 Dave, yes, the second one is less vibrant but looks more natural. The first really pops though, though maybe just a hair too vibrant. I think it must be difficult for us to judge seeing that if you lined up three different makes or models of computer screens, none would project the same color or lighting. It is like walking into an appliance store and looking at all of the TV models lined up. They all look different. However, you could always point out he cheaper models. In today's photo, the shadow creates a 3-D effect. Very nice. Rich, that has to be such an interesting trip to see such a cool engineering accomplishment. WOW. That is a dynamite view. Blessings to all this Sunday and every day. LORELL RE: Saturday & Sunday, December 3 & 4, 2022 - Rich - 12-04-2022 Dave, thanks, yes, toward the Pacific. There is free monitor setup info that helps to get you in the ball park. The other thing is if you print out a photo and it matches the monitor fairly good that is what I go by. It will never be perfect unless you have a lot of spare cash laying around to get better equipment. Now the purple flowers looks awesome of my monitor. Detail in the shadows, Highlight on the bottom one at about the 12 to 1 o'clock position a little washed out but not bad. Would probably print OK. A beautiful capture. Thanks Lorell, it was a blast! Interesting viewpoint on your photo. The door to the inner sanctum? Here are a couple more shots on the way to the Pacific. Left over dirt work from the digging I imagine and the Bridge of the Americas. Route 1. I could have driven there only 84 hr, 3,821 miles. The right road south is only 10 miles west of me! |
