May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Luv2shoot - 05-01-2022 This month's challenge is RED. Thank you, Michael, for the suggestion. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Michael - 05-01-2022 Work Hats
RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Dave - 05-02-2022 I like it, Michael. Good idea and well executed image. I've gathered quite a few hats and was considering a photo of a red one, but I don't want to take your idea. So here's my entry, of (what else?) a rose - one of the remaining Ketchup & Mustard roses that are persevering even without knowledgeable care ... RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Rich - 05-02-2022 Good one Michael! I am amassing a collection of this style cap too. Is that a Boston Scally? Dave, looks good enough to spread on my burger! RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Luv2shoot - 05-02-2022 Dave, The rose and greens around it look pretty healthy to me. Your soft lighting did a fine job of capturing the natural red color. Michael, A good start to the challenge topic. I love the composition and texture. A simple subject but your style adds so much. While I get busy looking around the house for things that are red, I pulled this one from last year's files and performed a little artistic adaptation on it. The software boosted the red but afterward I used adjusted the CYAN slider, like Grant suggested, to get a red that I preferred. These are SALVIAS. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Adamphotoman - 05-02-2022 I voraciously read an in depth book on Colour Correction written by Dan Magulis sometime around 2000 Dan was one of the first to make the transition from traditional high-end pre-press to the age of desktop publishing. "His book, Professional Photoshop, was the first to apply traditional, by-the-numbers curve methods to color correction in Photoshop, and is considered by many to be the bible of Photoshop color correction. Subsequent editions, and his “Make ready” column in Electronic Publishing magazine, introduced many techniques that are now standard practice in high-end retouching, such as the use of LAB, targeted sharpening, and channel blending to improve contrast." At the time I studied his book I was working towards editing photographs for the purpose of publishing catalogues. Although not an easy read, I am so glad I made the effort. Dan's advice Is very valuable. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Rich - 05-02-2022 Lorell, beautiful, very vibrant colors! Here is a 56 Merc. I had one but it was yellow and white. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Luv2shoot - 05-02-2022 Cool Mobile, Rich, and LOTS of Red. It's all about the Red, 'bout the Red, NO TROUBLE! Sang to the tune: All About the Base I should go look for some red cars in my archives. I bet I can find something. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Adamphotoman - 05-02-2022 You folks may remember this from a year ago. Just how long is a fire hydrant? Here is an organic Red from back out East. RE: May 2022 Monthly Challege, RED - Luv2shoot - 05-02-2022 Good ones, Grant. Of course, the red flower against the green SDOF background really pops. The leaves are a vivid golden red and the hydrants are colorful AND interesting. Thanks for sharing. I found this one this afternoon in my archives. |
