Friday February 18th 2022 - Man From Ironbark - 02-17-2022 I know you are all probably asleep but it is a glorious Friday morning here. Though this is neither a sunrise nor taken today. I'll throw it up anyway. ![]() After so long of extended drought and loss of species, it always heartening to hear good news, however short lived it may be. https://www.abc.net.au/news/rural/2022-02-18/coorong-black-swans/100838346 Hopefully this should give people the strength to shrug off the concept of water for profiteering rather than a healthy environs. RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Luv2shoot - 02-17-2022 Peter, that is a Glorious sunrise accompanied with a link to a feel-good story I like the image of the turtle too in the article. The article also said that there is a large number of birds that have been spotted migrating from Siberia as well as turtles and other wild life. Boy, it would take a long time for turtles to migrate, after all, they cannot fly. RICH, This one is for you and the theory regarding a splash of red in a landscape image. (from yesterday's daily: When I was active in our Camera Club there was one member that always said of certain landscapes that it needs a red color. Which is true in most cases and especially this scene. A grey or white light house and building wouldn't have any impact!) RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Man From Ironbark - 02-18-2022 The turtles only migrate from waterhole to waterhole. Being land turtles that is. Speaking of the colour red in the landscape. How about pink? ![]() At the bottom of the members page Which kind of doesn't exist, the newest memeber who I'm asked to please welcome, is mustafa So in the spirit of things, Welcome mustafa. RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Adamphotoman - 02-18-2022 Peter, All good photos. You are more than 1/2 a day in the future. Lorell, Nice to have subjects to shoot. A vertical sun rise from a splendid show 5 days ago. This mornings offering Not So Great. RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Rich - 02-18-2022 Peter, Wonderful, love the light streaks and two tiny birds on the left. No doubt the pink orb makes the photo! Lorell, Gobsmacked....again! That touch of red really makes the photo! Sky not to shabby either! Lighting is great! Good eye and capture! Grant, excellent colors! Here is the USS Drum and the forward torpedo room. RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - damar - 02-18-2022 WOW!!!! What a great show of beautiful images today! Love them all! I'm doing well and hope you all are too. I'm just keeping busy! (an not much for new photos) Have a quilt ready to go on the frame soon (for machine quilting) and my pressure canner parts came in and they are working great. Tested to 10 PSI and all is good (I wont can much over 10 PSI) but we will test it outside when it's not windy. MAYBE I can get some new pics this weekend. In the mean time, be safe out there and have a nice weekend! RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Dave - 02-18-2022 Wonderful photos, folks. MFI, your first is simultaneously understated and stunning. The second is subtle and soothing. Lorell, that's a beautiful and powerful image. Grant, another suburban sunrise. Lovely colors, and I like how the branches of the two tall trees are seeking each other. Rich, the master chronicler of many things: the Palace, naval history, ancient native American culture, and lots more. Hi damar. It sounds like you have a lot of different irons in the fire. Have fun, stay happy and safe. Sorry that I have nothing new to post. I've been busy getting things in order for my reintroduction to watercolor painting. I soaked and scrubbed the hardened pigments from my palette (2 to 3 hours); went through my old brushes to save what I could (another hour); did lots of reading about what color palette I want to use (4 to 6 hours); ordered and received some replacement tubes of paint, some replacement brushes, several blocks of watercolor paper, and a sketch book and several types of drawing pencils (another hour or two); labored to get the caps off several otherwise usable tubes of paint (1 hour); did lots of practice mixing; decided how to arrange the colors on my palette; and went through old photos to pick ones I want to paint (1 or 2 pleasant hours). So tomorrow I'll finally be ready to get started. Here's one photo from many years ago that I think I'll start with... RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Adamphotoman - 02-18-2022 Everyone I like the subjects, Dave, I had access to a number of used thrift stores like Restore and Value Village. Found nice white porcelain serving trays which make good inexpensive watercolour pallets. I have a pic somewhere. I think I will join you for some painting. Found it. RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Rich - 02-18-2022 Dave, a little late but if you run hot water on the stuck caps of paint for a minute they release real easy. Looking forward to your first painting! RE: Friday February 18th 2022 - Adamphotoman - 02-18-2022 Patty, My Mom made many Quilts. She made them for all her children and grand children. I just brought this one out of storage. She was born near a small town named Kamsack. This quilt was made when Canada had a flare up of mad cow disease. So this is my mad cow. |
