Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 - Dave - 11-18-2025 Good day. Here's another shot of pumpkins left over after Halloween, taken a few weeks ago on a dark morning long before sunrise... RE: Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 - Rich - 11-18-2025 I like the lighting Dave, very moody! Here is my last hurrah for pumpkin art! RE: Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 - Dave - 11-19-2025 Thanks Rich. Moody? I suppose so. But the sunny and colorful "mood" in your photo is more appealing. A couple of days ago our water heater stopped heating the water. Looks like a same capacity new one will run $2000 to $2200.We have a long and costly list of home projects but a new water heater wasn't on it. Speaking of water heaters, they are often called "hot water heaters" and that 's silly. If the water is already hot there is no reason to heat it. American English is considered quite hard to learn because of idioms and inconsistent pronunciation of the same sequence of letters in different words. Consider dough/rough/cough or height/weight; and even words spelled the exact same way, like wound (an injury) and wound (wrapped around something. I can think of hundreds more examples. RE: Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 11-19-2025 I'm not trying to wind you up but I don't hear anything on the wind.. It is English. American English didn't invent nor give the meanings to these words. They evolved before America was 'discovered'. |
