Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Dave - 02-26-2025 Happy Hump Day friends. This morning brought fog near the coast so I timed my first walk to take advantage of how nicely the quality of the light in those conditions complements shots of flowers. This one isn't as sharp as I'd like, but I'm trying to convince myself that's OK because the softness seems appropriate for a foggy morning. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I wish you all a good day or evening. RE: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Luv2shoot - 02-26-2025 Hi, Dave. Thanks for the pretty yellow rose even if it isn't from Texas. It is a nice close-up with lovely soft colors. It all works. I have a close up too for you. At our club's recent "gather, set-up, and shoot" outing, I took a photo of a U.S. Tank It was one of about 100 miniature models that one of our club members brought in and set up in a white box. I have posted the pre- and post-manipulated photo in this reply in reverse order and at our club meeting. I was quite happy wiith the feedback that I got. RE: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Dave - 02-26-2025 Hi Lorell and thank you. Thanks for posting both the pre and post versions. I find that interesting and often quite instructive. I think most people (including me) would initially decide that the graininess of the finished image lessens the image. But after a few moments of viewing the imag, I believe that it enhances it by suggesting the grittiness of combat. Great judgement by you on that. RE: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 02-26-2025 I can see evidence of the fog on your rose petals, Dave. ![]() Your war games manip is quite realistic aged B&W look, Lorell.
RE: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Luv2shoot - 02-26-2025 Thanks, Dave. I would have liked to use the clear version (the original and use an AI program to create a VERY realistic image with dirt, trenches, busted up buildings in the background, but I am trying to hold off using AI as long I can. But maybe I might go and try it and post it here just for $#!!$ and giggles. Our challenge was Color Creative, so I could have justified using computer generated additions . As a matter of fact, a few people did that. The response that I was most happy with from my club members was the same that Peter mentioned, that it looked like a real photo. When I did it, I thought of someone going through an old shoe box up in their grandad’s attic and coming across old war pictures. I was impressed how the model maker positioned the figurines so cleverly to make it look realistic. Thank you both for your comments. Lorell |
