Rich wins !! It is an egg. I quit the chicken business and what does my daughter do? She goes and orders a dozen mail order biddies! So now they are laying eggs!! some lay light blue eggs, some lay brown eggs and then there is the Black Copper Marans that lay the darkest eggs!!!!! Congratulations, Rich!!!

Had me confused all along. I wanted to say copper from the start but copper is usually hammered rather than cast. I've never seen or heard of Black Copper Marans. Thought I knew all the chook names too.

The texture is what a machinist would do when making a tool so I think it is a handmade punch of sorts
