Thank you Dave for the kind words.

Good point Grant. DiHydrogen monOxide, the most corrosive substance.
It is also nature's magnifying glass.

and here's a shot of a damp spot that has what looks like it could be a fungi or maybe a slime mould? I never went back to observe how it turned out.

Nice ones from your archives, Don.

Outstanding photo of the Bay of Fundy, Grant.

And more eye candy for us to enjoy, MFI.

One very fine day more than 18 years ago I was hiking at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Ecological Preserve and found myself in an area I'd never visited before. It was a bright, clear, and calm day, which presented to my eye and camera some beautiful reflections.

Due to hard drive failures over the years, I have lost all but two of the photos I took there that day. Here is one...

Sadly, all that water is now gone, a victim of California's long drought.

Wow that is a very noce photo Dave. It has nice gradients. Dave, it will rain again one day but the way the weather is going you never know when but the old poem by John O'Brien. Describes how we deal with it.

"Said Hanrahan" is a poem written by the Australian bush poet John O'Brien, the pen name of Roman Catholic priest Patrick Joseph Hartigan. The poem's earliest known publication was in July 1919 in The Catholic Press, appearing in 1921 in the anthology Around the Boree Log and Other Verses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Said_Hanrahan

Thanks MFI. More than anything else that photo and the one below was simply an example of being in the right place at the right time.

IMO, things run in repeating cycles, from one extreme to another. That's true in politics (conservative to liberal, back to conservative, again and again), fashion (skinny ties and thin jacket lapels yield to wide ties and lapels and then thin again), and many other areas. This has been true in earth's climate history, but I fear that man-made climate change is dangerously close to the point of no return, if not already past it. I am not optimistic.

Here's the other photo I managed to retrieve, taken the same wonderful day at the wetlands...

I'm aware that placing the horizon right in the middle is considered an amateurish and unforgivable sin, but in this caseĀ  I think the image still works.

These are probably the best two. Smile I really love the second one. The refllective foreground stretches toward the viewer and pulls you in. Such lovely colours. A magical light.

Thank you for those kind words, MFI.

But I can't take too much of the credit if the photos turned out well. These nice scenes were right there in front of me; my only job was to not mess up in taking and processing the photos.

RE: July 2023 water challenge - Dave - 07-16-2023

Here's a recent one (3 mornings ago).

Strong and intense early light struck this leaf (of an avocado I think) that had fallen to the sidewalk, created some long and strong shadows, and caused the colors to become especially vibrant...
