RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-12-2024 Here's a sneaky photo of a crested pigeon. She thinks no one can see her or so she thought, until my camera popped up in front of her.
RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-13-2024 and there's a Grey Butcherbird building a nest quite close by. It is only about 2m from the ground and I'm quite often within a metre of the site as it is where I've planted a lot of native trees and shrubs over four decades. The nest. ![]() The bird.
RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-16-2024 This is like, a wing.
RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-18-2024 ![]() White Rumped Miner Also known as Yellow Throated Miner. RE: August 2024 - Dave - 08-20-2024 I really like the "This is like, a wing" image. And the miners are handsomely colored creatures. Here's a male hummingbird taken in the backyard on May 7 2014. It's either an Allen's or a Rufous hummingbird, probably Allen's because they are more common here. RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-20-2024 It is a great pity that I am unable to see and photograph hummingbirds. That's a great catch of the bird preening. RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-23-2024 One of my most common birds and one found over most of the Australian mainland is the crested pigeon. Here getting warm winter rays at dawn at the top of my very large weeping mulberry tree.
RE: August 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 08-27-2024 As August draws to a close, may as well continue.
