The crop does make it look like a tweeter but no.
Think old as our new to our home was built 1912 before plastic.
Indeed it has been updated. Nob and Tube has been replaced with copper. Fuses have been replaced with circuit breakers.

I'm probably over thinking this now. Construction looks 50's design, but scale is impossible to tell, looks like the base to something, or even a light, but then i look at what appears ts to be be grooves to displace sound waves....sooooo...too much thinking
