Tuesday 27 September 2022 - damar - 09-27-2022

Well, we are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Ian since DD lives in Florida.
She usually will come up here during hurricanes but is not doing so this time.
We can only pray that this storm breaks up a bit.
They will definitely get a lot of rain. We probably will too.

I have nothing new so I dug back in my 2007 archive.

My mother is in Ocala and sister and family in St. Augustine. So a bit of worry also. But, I am sure everyone will be fine!
I love the capture of the plane, especially the movement it conveys with the slight tipping of the wing. Awesome color too!

Black and white fedora photo.

Michael, I can see your fire hydrant [yesterdays image] as both colour and B&W suitable for this month's challenge [ a 3rd variation]. Use the colour red from the colour image but all the rest in B&W. Try it. I think you will like it.

Patty, it looks like it is going to be a perfect landing.  Thanks for starting our daily and keeping things going around here.
I know you must be worried.  The news has been all over this storm.  I hope the storm disappoints and it fizzles out.

Michael, good grain on the fedora photo.  I bet you wear that hat nicely.  It looks warm too.  Glad you dropped in.

I looked a little history on the Fidora:
The history of the fedora begins on the stage back in 1882, when a play called Fédora opened at the Théâtre du Vaudeville in Paris. Sarah Bernhardt, who played the main character of the show, princess Fédora Romanoff, wore a creased felt hat as part of the costume.

Even though they were similar to the old Homburg style of hats, they quickly became more popular, especially as a symbol of the woman’s movement.

Hi Grant, I know that I have not been as attentive as I should be to this Blog, but I have not seen you around for a while.  Good to see you today.

Here is a little something from me.  I did not do a very good job of cloning out a BIG YELLOW banner that hung overhead in this alley warning truckers of the limit to passing through this alley in  Downtown Detroit.  But I am counting on that you won't be zooming in on this image and the girl looking up will attract your attention instead.

RE: Tuesday 27 September 2022 - Dave - 09-27-2022

Thanks for starting the Daily. damar. Fun photo. I reminds me of a time when my connecting flight from LAX to Orange County (40 miles at most) was cancelled and we were rebooked on another flight. I was first in line for boarding the small 9 passenger plane and the guy said to go all the way forward; I didn't realize he meant right next to the pilot (who was the same guy who checked us in at the ticket counter). Anyway, the flight was at sunset and we flew down the coast, giving us wonderful views of the sun setting over the Pacific. And it was fun feeling the plane move gently in response to the pilot's adjustments.

Nice photo, Michael. The hat looks as if it could be from Scotland.

Hi Grant.

Lorell, thanks for the bit of Fedora history. Nice photo, although it is kiinda dizziness-inducing.

If you folks can stand another floral, here's a shot of a K-M rose taken at the same place and time as the one I posted yesterday. When I view it it my image browser it appears overly harsh and saturated, but much less so when I view it in Photoshop. So I have no ideas how it will look when I post it below...

I'm hoping all those in the path of the hurricane emerge uninjured and with their property undamaged.

RE: Tuesday 27 September 2022 - Adamphotoman - 09-27-2022

Lorell, Dave is right but good use of the Fish eye lens.
Dave, Yesterday's ketchup image was a bit over saturated. Today your reds have shape. Yesterday not so much. The reds yesterday needed shape. If you add a touch of cyan to red one can engineer shape. Hope this crit is welcomed.

Thanks Grant. I always welcome C&C, and yours was on target.

RE: Tuesday 27 September 2022 - Dreamin - 09-27-2022

Pretty little plane, Patty! I hope the storm gets weaker, for everyone's sake! Some of those Cayman islands have not fully recovered from the last storms.....so sad.....such devastation!! I cannot imagine going through this over and over. I mean, we get a storm every now and then, but NOT anything like what those islands get...I hope your daughter does not get hit with anything too serious......or you, either.....we will probably get wind and rain, but not too bad.

Nice Fedora, Michael....when I was a kid, my dad always wore a fedora when dressed up....then hats went out of fashion in the US....except a few church's ladies still wear hats, and in Europe, they wear hats more than we do.....hoping for the best for your family down south....I've been glued to the weather channel!!

Hi, Grant!! I was thinking the same thing about Michael's photos, fits two challenges with a little color selection!!

Lorell, great shot looking up, made me dizzy. I cannot find where you cloned out the banner, so you must have done a great job!! What lens did you use?

Dave, I can picture your sun setting flight down the coast.....sounds fun!! What a great shot of the rose....this is a favorite one for me!!

RE: Tuesday 27 September 2022 - Luv2shoot - 09-27-2022

Sorry all, I did not mean to throw everyone‘S equilibrium off.

Natalie, I took that with my 8mm fish eye. See how the buildings on the side curve inward?

Grant recognized right away that it was the fish eye. Thanks, Grant, for supporting my use of the lens for this narrow but steep composition.

Dave, that’s a good one with great natural lighting, brilliant rich colors, and perfect petals.

That's a great Cessna shot Patty, that Fedora Michael may have more impact if the feather had a little colour. A robustly coloured rose Dave and a vertiginous view from Lorell.
Well done all of you.

I can only offer shots looking down rather than up.

This one tends to spin me out so I'll try it here.
